And so he does! Complete game win, with pretty amazing efficiency (92? pitches).

Awesome.

Sucks. I would have liked to watch this one. Too much sports. Not a bad day for DC sports.

They re-air them late night, right? EDIT: Looks like it's at 11:30 on the MASN flagship station (not MASN2).

Ugh. An obvious out at 1st is called wrong, 2 bad calls on balls (should have been strike 3 to two different batters), and a grand slam now has the Nats down 4-0. Gross.

it was a great game to be at. They had the Caps game on in the Red Porch, and Backstrom scored about 2 minutes after the Nats game ended.

That was an ugly bit of umping there, yeah. Clawed back to down 5-4; good thing the bullpen got its rest yesterday, huh? Stammen got into a bit of trouble and then got out of it with the bases loaded in the seventh.

Foy: Nice! That park is a real good time.

Beautiful slide from Ankiel at the plate, tie game in the seventh.

Should be 5-1 and done, but going to extra innings again. Fans are getting their money's worth, that's for sure. Would be huge if the Nats could pull this one out.

The two missed strikeouts immediately after that blown call were just as egregious imo. Neither pitch was even close to a ball. Detwiler literally retired 5 batters before the grandslam was hit. Horrible umpiring all day, but in the first in particular.

Proud to see the boys fight back and force extras given everything that transpired earlier in the game though. They do battle, that's for sure.

Also, with the Hornets' win tonight the Wizards are virtually assured of finishing with the second worst record in the league (therefore assuring themselves of having the second best odds of procuring the unibrow's services, and concordantly giving themselves a floor of the fifth pick.) It hasn't been mathematically clinched yet, but it's going to happen.

DC United also won last night against the Revolution (FU Boston), and the sensational rookie Nick DeLeon added another assist on the GWG. He has 2 goals and 2 assists on the young season which is fantastic, especially when you consider that he didn't start either of the first two games.

OT, but Bobby Valentine is a trainwreck. Couldn't be happier as an O's fan.

I don't think the trainwreck is Valentine, I think the trainwreck is that team. He's trying to change a culture on that team that existed under Francona and finally which led to his demise.

Fancona's style was close to Torre's
Valentine's style is close to Billy Martin

Bobby V's quirky demeanor is the last thing they need if they wanted to change rhe culture. I do agree the players are the real problem there, though the management there is no better.

Well the nice thing about it all, will be the BoSox paraphernalia disappearing as quickly as it appeared around town when they finally won a WS. Talk about a bunch of bandwagon fans. Rarely did I ever see BoSox stuff around D.C. before they won the WS and then it became in vogue with all the yuppies. That team starts to tank their hats and shirts will start invading the Salvation Army stores.

Hah so true, but with the way last year ended and all the controversy surrounding the team. I didn't get the bobby V hire. The last thing they need is to draw unnecessary attention to the team and on top of that, the way there management tried to scapegoat Francona and Epstein was pathetic.

Not complaining as an O's fan.

Too bad they play in the same division as the Juggernats, or they might actually go somewhere!
