Etem is #48 because he plays for the Ducks. That sounds lame, but it's the truth. He's on a Canadian team and he's a top 20 prospect. Look at the recognition Gardiner got after being traded to Toronto.
As for others topping it. Maybe I suppose, but a top forward prospect and the 6th overall is a lot. I wouldnt mind adding our 2nd, but imo their 2nd would have to come back as well, or just take the 3rd off. Duchene for 6th overall and Etem

I just posted a new thread for Duchene's value citing that.. I am curious to see what other organizations fans feel Duchene is worth. Because there is legit reasons to trade him if we can pull the right package.

Good idea. By the way, please don't take me as "trashing" Duchene. It's not that at all. However I cant remember the last time a team gave up their 1st, 2nd, and top prospect for a player. Anyway hope the fans, and more importantly the GMs, could work something out cause it'd be huge for Ducks future and present.

I honestly think as a Duchene fan that he would benefit from the move. Especially with Bruce as a coach. I hate Sacco.. HATE on like another level. He has completely mishandled Duchene.
I can see what your saying but at the same time how often are young centers like Duchene traded?
To watch a guy that has really never had any wingers that were that good for an entire season, and still manage to put up a 67 point campaign as a 20 year old leave. It's heart breaking.. We even tanked and lost like 23 of 25 down the stretch last season. The kid could cough up 70 point seasons at will if given proper coaching and line-mates to grow with.
Only read the first few posts of this thread, but Ducks fans are way off on their valuation of the pick. Saying Plekanec+, no to Stastny, no to Grabo, no to Roy, etc. These teams would not offer these players for the 6th overall pick, and the Ducks would snatch up any of those IMO, big contracts or not.
I know you don't see young 2nd line centers moved, which is why ive stated several times that I don't think he'd ever be move. It's also worth pointing out that you don't see a team trading their top prospect, high 1st round pick, and only 2nd in one move. Also two examples of what you said are Richards and Carter.
No Ponder, we wouldn't jump on guys regardless of contracts. If Murray wanted to pay a 2nd line center stastny, he'd have been a player for Carter (both times) and Richards.
Oh and the only reason I'm hesitant on Plekanac is due to his age. He will be 30 when next season starts. That's not too old, but the conscious seemed to be that we would only target a 2nd line center who will be a big part of the future. A guy who is 30 isn't ideal, although I'd still probably do some deal around the 6th for Plekanac. It's just no slam dunk.

See and one of the reasons I would agree to moving Duchene is to find a 30 goal guy for Stastny. Because he proved he can be a PPG guy again with even serviceable wingers. Unfortunately Duchene was never given that chance.
And.. Stastny did it with McGinn and Jones. Upgrade those two and I believe wholeheartedly he would be back to 75+.
McGinn is a question mark because if he continues his pace he will break 30 next year. Jones is not a question mark. His ceiling is anywhere between 20-30.

If it's not worth it, then it's not worth it. That works both ways, and we accept that. No, we don't have to trade the pick if the contract doesn't work. It's not like drafting a young player on an ELC is going to keep us up nights.
Unless an extension could be reached before the deal is made (which I don't think is allowed), it'd be a no from Anaheim. Too risky having his contract expire same time as Getz and Perry's.
That is stupid IMO, why wouldn't you just add to the 6th overall to move up to 1st so you get the Gally-Yak combo, and choose their developement(ie: OHL 1 more, straight to AHL/NHL)
If Burke were able to pull that off then he deserves big time credit.

Noone ever said they are not worth the pick. Stastny is paid too much for the Ducks, Grabo is overpayed and Roy is a UFA next summer same time as Getzlaf perry and Fowler.
Maybe you should read more of the posts next time.
there is no chance in hell of anaheim moving etem, they are NOT trading a local stud prospect, he is pretty underrated here. if he played for a canadian team or the rangers y'all wouldnt stop talking about how good he is

That's just fine. You keep your awesome local prospect and we will keep Duchene. #6 overall+Etem wouldn't get it done anyways

This is what I'm saying. We're going to be left dry for a few seasons in our prospect pool if we do this trade. Especially with our recent success on 2nd rounders including DSP thanks Viper. We seem to pick a rabbit out of a hat with our 2nds and to give up one and include our first Plus our top prospect is a very large payment.
Maybe a overpayment in the eyes of a few and definitely a large payment in the majority.

Exactly.... A kid who loves Anaheim and has it all over his twitter account and has DSP backing him up on his pro career.
@smithpelly23: Shoutout to my bud @tweetem_up on a great year and the start of a long pro career #snipahhh
Would be a harsh blow to a kid who is excited to play for us And with what's going on with Schultz?? We need a prospect like him.
Indeed. The only hole I see in your plan is you have Phaneuf on the first pairing, as well as another position. Not sure if it's third string goalie, player-coach or GM.
Addressing the Ducks aspects - Top 10 picks don't get traded for 2nd line centers EVER, much less overpaid ones. And I'll assume you mean to sign Justin Schultz when you are saying "Schulz", Toronto has to sign him to an ELC just like everyone else, you can't offer him 2.5 per year.
You are the only one who disagrees.... Every other Ducks fan takes that deal easily.
Me, Sheen, DuckStudd agree the values not there with the deal it's at 6th overall+Etem+2nd round pick for Duchene. And me and Sheen both agree that Etem will NOT be traded. Only a few of you are in agreement.

Yeah, for the stupidest reason, because he's a local. Etem's great, a terrific player who could be a great one for us for years to come, but Matt Duchene's on another level, and on this team could be a just fantastic pick-up. Any Ducks fan should do that deal in a heartbeat.
