Not crazy, it was shoulder. But the Hawks pbp guy kept saying head to head so the sheep must follow his lead.
Glad I'm not the only one. Shanaban will see it the same way I'm sure as we did. Looks like he gets as close as he can with his should out as well. Dirty player. Part of me hopes he isn't suspended and raffi or biz puts him in his place.
Just like how Tippett has learned going into a shell to try and hang onto a one goal lead for half a game is a bad idea?
Pretty much that. There's a few true yet cliche quotes like something involving a prevent defense and repeating history. Wish I could remember how those went. Would probably help the squad a lot.

Hawks fan, you guys really think Shaw should be suspended? I mean, it was a dumb play but he clearly wasn't head hunting or trying to injure Smith. Look at the replay, he pulls back from contact with him. The penalty was deserved (although misconduct is questionable) but nothing about that screams suspension to me. Maybe I'm wrong but it wasn't malicious and Smith did sell it.
Shaw's shoulder caught Smith square on the top of Smith's mask. Caused a whiplash effect.
Doesn't matter if he's head hunting or not. Shaw had time to avoid the contact but still caught Smith in the head.
The NHL has been pretty consistent when it comes to handing out supplemental penalties for shots to the head. I expect at minimum a fine.... possibly one game depending upon Shaw's history.

I could pretty much care less if Shaw gets time or not, he shouldn't be a player that makes or breaks this series. I think he meant to hit Smith for sure, he had space to get by, but I don't know if he intentionally aimed for the head or not. At bare minimum its a two minute penalty and we scored within that two minutes. Smith played it up which bought a few more minutes which we did nothing with and the Hawks got a couple make up calls to end the period so as far as I'm concerned it all evened out.

Not to start an argument on your board but top of the head? Seriously? Go back and watch the videos.
Well boys and sexy ladies, haters will be in full force but a win on tuesday will get us back into it. Watching jason warm up was scary but watching mike during that five min penalty clearly proved that he was injured. Toes is next
However, I thought the Coyotes played a much better game than the previous one. We owned the puck a lot more, make good plays, I thought we looked pretty even rather than hoping for miracles from our goaltender.
We needed Hanzal badly. Once he and Korpikoski were out, we didn't have much physical presence.
Hell of a game though. These 2 games have been a real treat to watch live. The crowd was so into it. It was awesome. That last minute of regulation was insane.
It's not over folks. If everybody comes back healthy for game 3, that should be another good one.

I just did.
Shaw's left shoulder caught Smith squarely on his head.
The Hawks announcers actually called it head to head..... it wasn't.
You've got the most solid part of the body meeting the least solid part. Unless you're ready to change the laws of physics, you aren't going to have an argument.

Just to add something here, if it was a head to head, shaws head would have bobbled, which it didn't. His shoulders did, which caused his momentum to carry him into the boards. Physics is a hard but to crack.
On the positive side, ****ing OEL... we finally have an actual star on this team. This kid is absolutely unbelievable. I could just stare at him carrying the puck for hours. I haven't had such a man-crush on a player since Forsberg at this prime. I hope he stays a Coyote for life.
Pretty sad when everyone wants to throw in the towel now.

I see all of one person that looks like they threw in the towel. Everyone else just looks pissed off, and rightfully so, that this team continues to beat itself with the same stupid mistakes over and over again.
Absolutely devastating loss. Doubt we recover from this.
Oh relax. This is one loss. One devastating loss counts as: one loss. These aren't school kids, they get play hockey. They aren't going to roll over and die.

Yup and Im sure Tippett wants to ***** slap everone on the team right now not named Mike Smith.
