Karlson. Doughty hasn't played great since his first season, I hope he gets his act together I had high hopes for doughty.
Why is it that everyone thinks it was Doughty's first year that was his great year? I'm not trying to single you out intentionally it's just that I see it a lot on here. It was his sophomore year he made the Canadian Olympic Team and was a Norris nominee.
Having said that, maybe it's just me but Karlson has seemed rather pedestrian thus far in the playoffs this year (lucky goal off of Del Zotto's skate). Doughty has kept his game simple and strong. They are both going to be/already are amazing players, and yes I'm definitely bias as I'm a Kings fan but I'm going to say Doughty.

I thought it would be a lot closer. I chose Doughty. I don't get to see him much but what I have seen is phenomenal. Obviously any team would be lucky to have either.
Doughty easily. L.A's style has changed. No d-man would put up the kind of point Karlsson has with the Kings this year.
Why would any team play the Kings' style if they had Karlsson on the roster?
Doughty can't do what Karlsson can in terms of making the game and the around him faster. That's not to say Karlsson's better...but I think when you look at the entire picture and look at the individual player, at this point, Karlsson's the more desirable player.
He's controlling games by himself a lot of the times. We wouldn't get into the Rangers zone if it wasn't for him.
I think Doughty has a little more natural ability, he's not far off in terms of skating or offensive talent, and he's better defensively, more solidly built, more physical. However, what I question with Doughty is his drive/maturity. Karlsson seems like a very focused, driven athlete, Doughty seems a bit immature, doesn't seem as committed to the sport. If I could add either one to my team, I'd add Karlsson for this reason (and his slightly higher offensive talent), but I do think it's close. Doughty in 09/10 was the best 19-20 year old dman I've ever seen, but he's regressed a bit since then, when a dman in his early 20s should be improving.

Are you serious? There isn't a defenseman in the league who's close to Karlsson in terms of Offensive ability, right now.
