Carkner would fight back. Not sure why a big boy like Boyle didn't fight back

Regarding 6-3 225...

Not that I would be "afraid" to put Kreider into a playoff game because he might get hurt lol.. but...

Knees are knees, and a head is a head.

Unless your Big Country Roy Nelson. Then nobody can hurt that melon.

in baseball, when a pitcher hits a batter, a warning is issued. i think the nhl might want to issue a warning here. ottawa has a couple of players who push the envelope. (though it guess hagelin initiated the nastiness).

You can't be stupid enough to be saying that this is a matter of who is tougher, so I'm not sure what your point is. Did you have the same reaction when Beukeboom went down, if you are old enough to remember?

My only point was that the reactions here would be exponentially different if Callahan had not returned to the game.

Sorry if this has already been asked, but is it only Hagelin who has the hearing? What about Carkner?

The NHL is looking into Carkner/ Boyle and the Phillips hit on Cally.

If Alfredsson is out indefinetely, and Hagelin donīt get a suspension, It could get nasty in Ottowa tomorrow..... Not just for Hagelin. I wouldnīt be surprised if Ottowa will go after stars like Callahan, Gaborik or Richards with the intention to hurt them...

It was a bad hit by Hagelin. I wouldn't be surprised at all if he got a suspension out of it. Hopefully it wouldn't go beyond one or two games but the Rangers could insert Kreider into his spot--but even so Carl got him right in the side of the head with an elbow and whether or not Alfie is fragile is beside the point. We know Carl is a clean guy--that may be the first major penalty he's ever had but again that is beside the point. Don't target people's heads is the point--the whole point and nothing but the point.

Phillips--Callahan is somewhat similar--no injury gives Shanny the leeway to be more lenient if he wants.

The Carkner mugging though is a great opportunity for Shanny to lay the hammer down on any future episodes of this kind of event for the length and breadth of the entire playoff year from preliminary series to Cup finals. A golden opportunity if you ask me to send a message which doesn't really hurt the Sens very much as they're probably better off with Gilroy in the lineup. He shouldn't pass it up.

Haha. This. Sens have been protecting little Karlsson as if he's some sort of untouchable princess. What? An adult can't take a facewash and a shove?

it couldn't be more obvious that alfredson simply wimped out of the check. hagelin is looking up ice so there is no intent whatsoever. alfredson simply bricks himself cause he knows hagelin is finishing the check and does nothing to protect himself. the ref's were a joke last night. did you see the one standing with his hand in the air while carkner was pumelling boyle 3 feet away?! and then the whole 2 puck incident lol

Flyers fan stopping by--just my opinion, but:

Carkner gets the book (2-3 playoff games = 7-10 regular season games--the NHL will want to send a message about that sort of play).

Phillips and Hagelin probably both get $2,500 fines. I could see Hagelin getting a game. I don't think it was intentional, but it was a pretty bad elbow, directly to the head of a "star" player, who left the game and didn't return.

That said, the referees dropped the ball on the Dubinsky call--how can it be 3rd man in when the second doesn't fight? A 10 minute misconduct to cool things down would have been understandable, but the game was a joke.

(I assume he will also be fined for showing his... displeasure, but that's another matter).

phillip's elbow was directly to the head of our captain, too :\

injury is the only thing that gets hagelin a suspension and phillips not(and the fact that the on ice call was a 5).

should at least be a hearing though. that's pretty irritating

And that's what we want. If you do that same hit ON Hagelin, he's fine. Let the Sens take dumb penalties

Probably not if he caught a sucker punch to the jaw before the fight even started.

Carkner should get 2-3 games easy as his sole purpose was to assault Boyle. That being said I bet he gets a game because it is the playoffs.

Hagelin will 100% get a game, regardless that Alfie was in a weird position Carl should not have his elbow up so high and this is the second time a ranger player hit him in the head. If Wolski never did it earlier in the year I'd say maybe he gets just a fine, but two times from us is not going to get him a pass.

The problem is Shanny like the officials and NHL in general is terribly inconsistent. If Wener got suspended we wouldn't even be having this discussion, we would know Hagelin would sit for a game.

Hags 1 game
Carkner 1 game
book it
