Extra Information Red Wings' Mike Babcock expects team to take a big step in Game 3 vs. Nashville

Quote:
DETROIT – Coming off a 3-2 win Friday in Game 2 of their first-round playoff series against Nashville, Detroit Red Wings coach Mike Babcock has a laundry list of improvements he is looking for from his team in Game 3 Sunday at Joe Louis Arena (noon, NBC).
“I actually felt that we were better in Game 1 (3-2 loss) than we were in Game 2, at least defensively,'' Babcock said. “We were harder on the net last night, but we can still be way better than we were, so I expect us to take a real significant step here tomorrow.
The Red Wings need to generate more shots on goal, after recording only 17 on Friday.
They also need to take fewer penalties, after giving Nashville's top-ranked power play six opportunities in each of the first two games (they have killed all 12 chances).
“There’s not much to pick between these teams,'' Babcock said. “When you look around the league, I don’t think there’s much to pick between anybody in any of the series, so it’s a challenge.”
The Red Wings got in a quick 20-minute skate at Centre I.C.E. (JLA was being set up for the Nickelback concert). Defenseman Ian White was the only player who didn't skate. He was hit in the left foot by a blast from Roman Josi with about six minutes to play in the second period. He couldn't put on his skate Saturday, but he'll play Sunday.
“He’ll be fine,'' Babcock said.
White said the foot was “a little tender'' and he just needed a day to rest it. He didn't need X-rays.
“I’ve been hit in the foot by a puck many times, so I was pretty sure it was broken,'' White said. “It was just one of those things that when you take a puck in the foot it’s going to hurt.”

It's obvious they won Game 2 and not Game 1 because I wasn't wearing my Wings gear in Game 1...

I have a great feeling about this game. At home in the Joe (where we have been virtually unstoppable), and because I'm still happy we split the home series in Nashville. Last game I said 4-1 with Howard standing on his head, which he did, and I'll go with that prediction again.
4-1 Wings. Goals from Lidstrom, Zetterberg, Datsyuk, and Holmstrom.
One more reason I have such a good feeling is because of how mad Radulov is. Not mad like getting revenge by scoring, mad like taking stupid penalties. If he yells at a ref or linesman like that again they won't tolerate it. He is getting really frustrated.

It amazes me the attitude this guy has. The arid torpor of arrogance and entitlement will be his demise. Imagine if he wasn't a selfish ****** bag, he might be unstoppable.

Agreed, but like you said, he is so selfish. Can you imagine him on Datsyuk's wing? The Wing's could reshape his attitude and it would be a thing of beauty.

It would be sweet though, but it would never happen. I think he's KHL bound after this year again.

Good Morning DRW Fans!
These playoff are proving how difficult it is to guess a winner. In 4 days we've seen so much great hockey, I would love to see the Wings exhibit that same high caliber of play they are capable of. I hope for an intense and injury free game.
The Red Wings need to stay loose and do what they've worked at all season. It takes a predator to defeat a predator. We need to continue hounding and attacking with our forecheck. Keep crashing their D and pick up those turnovers. When we combine our skill and strategy with raw hustle and battling this team is unstoppable.
Hockeytown will be rockin, finally. The local media has made a big deal about the Weber incident and our fans have a chance to let loose today. We are gonna feel the roaring in JLA.
Lets Go Red Wings!

Sorry for cutting your grass, didn't know you were posting today. The extra early start screws things up...I just wanted to give the early risers a chance to talk about the game.

I think that line is due to break out today...home crowd should help energize the team and I'm expecting a comfortable win today (a 2 or 3 goal bulge). Game 4 will be the tighter of the two games in Detroit. A 3-1 lead heading back there would obviously be the goal but a split is acceptable. The Wings have been the better team up to this point...can't give them any momentum and allow them to steal this one today.
