If you want to get the message across that if you are going to hit the star players you will pay for it, you don't let up there until the linesman rips you away. The goal is blood, bruises, and a couple nights of difficult sleeping. That sends a message loud and clear.
I'm not condoning it but people keep talking about wanting the instigator rule removed. Much more of this would be the result.
Bertuzzi and Weber's fight wasn't a message it was the Wings trying to save face.
This.
I don't condone it, but if I'm Carkner this is what I'm doing. Squaring off doesn't send a message. I assure you Boyle will think twice before touching a Sen again. If you want to protect your star and send a message, than send a message.

Agreed. It was the only reason he was dressed last night. If I remember correctly in the first game Boyle grabs karlsson in a scrum and just starts rabbit punching him in the face...mind u the gloves were on BUT you know the next game there may be a little retribution coming your way.

Nice goal by Neil at the end.
Your memory is correct. Boyle towers over Karlsson and didn't earn a lot of respect in my eyes. Carkner may have gone too far but Boyle had to know that he was a target after game 1.
They're definitely looking good - Klein just put away a NICE goal - great rush, some nice moves, and bang - Nashville's up 2-0 with 16m left in the 2nd.
