If those two did butt heads as Friedman claims Sacco wouldn't have been extended.
And Avs aren't interested in trading a kid that was an all-start as a 20 year old for picks and prospects, since they want to be in the playoff picture next year.
Thats quite a decent value, if not an overpayment. However, I doubt the team does this. As Ivan said this team is interested in competing next season and Duchene would help that a lot more than prospects.

Fair enough, I figured it was close, which likely means minor stuff movingeither way, however say subban was included an the third overall removed and a good prospect say a kristo as well, you get a young top pairing defenseman and a prospect who will likely be a 25-25 and a 2nd Mtl gets a young potential number 1c ( if he returns to form) an then uses third overall to draft Murray or forsberg
I don't know enough about the avs roster but for the Habs tht gives duchene as number 1c and Desharnais as number 2 draft Murray and along with beaulieu and tinordi got three solid young defenseman trade plekanec for a solid young defenseman and you really form the basis for an extremely young and talented core of players

That depends on how high the Avs are on Subban. I think they have enough work as it is developing Guance, Elliott, Barrie and even EJ. Not sure if they want to add another Dman to that. This being a team that can draft centers left right and center but has yet to develop their own dman.

Lol opposite problem over here, I will say he has huge upside and plays one of the better two way games, it's just we haven't had a decent sized center since the 90's so getting ones all been my goal, mind you I think this trade would depend on if galchenyuk were still around at 3 and what Timmins thinks of him
Honestly it's hard to make something work. On D we need a left handed top pairing guy and a top 6 winger.
The only winger you guys have the Avs would want is Max Pac.. And I wouldn't trade Duchene for him alone. Not really value wise but I am just not trading a franchise center for a franchise winger alone. It would be to much of a lateral move for either team.
You guys should probably just draft Forsberg and call it good. You need more help on the wings than we do.

Not interrested in moving Subban.
Also if we did move Subban why would we add to get Duchene?
Rather just keep Subban and draft Grigs or gally with our pick.

Agreed. No to moving Subban, but if we did we would not be adding to get Duchene, it would be straight up. So, before anyone gets their tail feathers ruffled, that means both teams say "no" and move on to the draft. I would much rather do what the OP suggests and keep Subban, thank you very much.
Duchene has had a real bad year....can't see Montreal rolling the dice at that price.
Subban being right handed he does not fill a need for us.
On Duchene's season.. You can knock about 20 games off of his 58 games played on the year. In fact you can knock the last 20 off. He tried to play injured the last half of the year because we were trying to make the playoffs.
He had injuries to both legs. Not serious but an ankle and a knee sprain on different legs. Knocking the games off that he played injured.. Hes paces for about 61 points on the year.
On top of all that? The majority of the games he played while healthy he played out of his natural position at LW. He had zero chemistry with Stastny except a few games here and there. By the time he was moved back to center Hejduk had fallen off the map and Mueller was no where to be found.
Even while playing injured he never got a chance to play with any wingers who were actually producing.
So no Avs fan will accept any less for him now because we all know what happened between the organization and his injuries.
People can try downplaying the relationship between Sacco and Duchene all they want, fans can say that Duchene isn't going anywhere all they want, but they'd be hard pressed to argue against the facts. What Friedman has posted is facts: Duchene was benched on March 22nd against Phoenix (played only 7:21), then averaged less than 12 minutes per game after that.
Having said that, the Habs aren't moving Subban. Why? Because they have no one to replace him with.
I could see however a trade based around the 3rd overall pick. But don't expect too much more than that, and certainly not an established player to go with it. Lars Eller and the 3rd overall? Maybe.
I wouldn't even do the 3rd overall for Duchene a this point. What a brutal year he's had. I'm sure he'll pick it up, but this is a big HELL NO from a Habs POV

I'm going to suggest that you have not watched the Avalanche since January or February. If you'd have seen Duchene play, you'd realize that he was no where near top speed. Honestly, I don't think he had any business being on the ice down the stretch because he wasn't creating and IMO was a defensive liability. Once his legs (ankle on one, knee on other) heal up, he'll probably be fine.

I hate to argue with you, but Duchene simply didn't deserve to play more than that. He was playing injured and he wasn't helping his team win, I wouldn't play him more than Sacco did as well, some might argue he should've been scrathed.

You're not arguing with me, you're supporting what Friedman was saying.

Ummm, no he is not. Friedman was speculating that there were problems between Sacco and Duchene that lead to decreased ice time. He was simply pointing out the actual reason Duchene had less ice time.
