Haha, I was told player appreciation pages belong on team boards....

Either way Couturier is in beast mode right now. Amazing how a guy so young can be so good defensively. Was he know for his defensive game coming out of juniors?

I love how a couple weeks ago it was Pens fans giving Flyers fans **** when we said that Couturier had a great game against Malkin. It was "Malkin still had 2 points, (2 assists, none at EV Strength against Couturier). It's one game. Typical HFboards homers!"

Now its a few weeks later, and a few more games of Couturier doing the same thing to Malkin that he did in that game, and it's fans of other teams saying "It's one game. Typical Hfboards homers"

It may be one game that you guys know of, but we've been watching this all year.

Mad props for Couturier showing up the other 7 teams that passed on him.

From an outsider's prospective, it seems like Jagr has been a really influential player for him.

If any of the other 7 teams picked him, would he still have the same success as he had this season (Without Jagr)? (Genuine Question)

Edit: If/when the Sens are beaten out, I'm rooting for the Flyers

It's a safe bet IMO that couturier will be a better player than jordan staal. people will be laughing to the point of asphyxiation in a few years at that comparison.
Jordan Staal is a very good player. I think Couturier's upside is probably a similar player to him.

Likewise!

Jon Quick, holy ****. As a goalie that loves watching good goal tending, Jon Quick gets me fired up. He's a beast!

He still shouldn't have gone first even if you're including information gathered in hindsight, but yea, good on him for playing over expectations.

Dunno about Turris. Couturier definitely will fill out more and RNH will put on atleast 10 more pounds
How do you know it's muscle and not a combination of muscle/fat/bone? That happens in your 20s, when you gain weight, you gain it in proportions.

Couturiers upside is greater than Jordan Staal, I think that guy was saying he hopes he isn't like Staal thus far in the playoffs, because Couturier has been much better than Staal, shutting down Malkin much better than Staal is shutting down Giroux, while scoring much better as well. It's only 2 games but give me Couturier right now over Staal because I believe he will be a better player fully developed.

Well because when rookies join an NHL team they start getting top notch strength and conditioning coaches, much more strenuous than Highschool, college or junior programs. It's safe to say it was at least 8 out of 10 lbs was muscle... Unless he was on the Kyle Wellwood diet.

I agree, 2nd to 4th. Couturier, Landeskog and Larsson all have a claim at #2 in a redraft

I had Larsson/RNH Landeskog Huberdeau Couturier. Not engaging in the ongoing Q player debate, but I think most can agree it was an aberration of logic for him to be picked further than the 4/5 spot let alone 8th. Just...odd.
