Senators Win!!!!!!!

Oh excuse me, Chairman Wang and Mr. Garth Snow, if you two geniuses didn't notice. But team Konopka is in the Play-offs.

Nice to see the Rangers lose.

What and end to the Sharks/Blues game too.

Thank you for having faith in Ottawa isle fans from your earlier posts. It'll be a closer series than many thought.

Seeing Brian Rolston playing hard today was sickening. At one point he chased the puck around the offensive zone for about 30 seconds and actually got a shot off that HIT THE NET! And to think we actually gave him a chance here.

philly/pens banging away

This is exactly why hitting rules and winners must have it, this is a tough/banging playoff, Good hockey. NYI needs a little more toughness, few less rec. players and we got a chance.

Oh, it's this thread again!

While I completely agree the Islanders lack toughness, you will not change the minds of those who disagree.

The Senators/Ranger's series is mean as all hell too. Lots of dirty/mean/chippy play. Both teams play dirty. Lots of elbows and stick swinging and players just being attacked. The officiating has been horrendous and the players are out of control because of it. Happy the Rangers lost game 2 .

So where is the outcry against Carkner, like that against Martin when he threw and pulled one single punch to Talbot last year? I guess it pays to play for a Canadian team sometimes.

The difference is that what Carkner did was different. Naturally, people are going to ask, "What makes it different?" - The fact that it is.

Anyone not named Charles Wang or Garth Snow, knows the Islanders NEED to get bigger and tougher.

But just such a guy that did actually help in that department. Who was also, a good face off guy to boot, named Zenon Konopka (not worth resigning, Reasoner = upgrade ) had a quote in Newsday today that really hits home for me.

"We were kind of upset at the way we got pushed around in Game 1," Konopka said. "We wanted to show that we've got some guys who can push back as well. No one's going to be taken advantage of, not on our watch."

After watching countless cheap shots and constant liberties being taken on "our" talent, John Tavares, just to name one. Zenon was surely missed this year.

Well clearly if he got those 5 points for the isles, they would have made the playoffs too

That's leadership for those of you at home. We designate that responsibility to captain (which the team probably picks reading web site polling).

Is anybody watching this Pitt-Phi game today...i mean there is REAL HATRED in this series, it is nasty. I never remember this many playoff series in the first round that have been this intense.

Could you seriously imagine this Isles team as presently constituted playing in these kinds of playoff series? We would get manhandled.

Manhandled? I'd prefer the term, "prison-sexed."

(It's a Freud term. Look it up.)

Crosby being a little ***** right now. PIT running into a buzzsaw.

On a 'playoffs in general' note, I don't recall seeing this much postseason fighting in years. Am I just not remembering things correctly?

I agree this is one nasty series and even nastier game. Maybe we get lucky and all of the stars on both teams get serious concussions from fighting and we play their AHL teams 12 times next year!

Seriously, I wonder how NBC will feel if this gets out of hand and someone seriously gets hurt on a Sunday afternoon network broadcast.

The Flyer Pitt game is off the charts goals fights. Nasty hockey. Garth needs to watch this and get us some toughness.

Schenn hit looked pretty clean to me. Asham is getting suspended though.

EDIT: Penalty for charging, refs agreed with you.

Asham IS A SCUMBANG. He should be banned from the league, like Simon should have been after he's disgusting stick work. I hope Schenn is okay.
