Kreider is better off starting at the 3rd. A common saying in restaurants is that a bad kitchen will bring down a good waiter. Same goes with this, Kreider wont get much going on a line with Scott and Rupp... It will just bring him down especially as hes used to playing with the top line at BC.

Agreed, Putting Kreider on a 4th line with Rupp and Scott would be a waste of time for Kreider and may make things worse for Kreider's confidence.

I would think the Ranger management is smart enough not to do this to Kreider. It will be a similar situation in what the Islanders did to Nino this season playing 4th line with Pandolfo and Reasoner. We all know how disastrous that turned out to be

They aren't the same situations at all. Nino is a year younger and they had him up the whole year when he clearly still should have been in juniors. They wasted a year of his development.

Kreider is more ready for the NHL. One game playing on the 4th line won't hurt him. At this point, any playing time he gets, on whatever lines, is a bonus.

Practiced with Boyle and Prust last night so he's likely to play on Boyles LW.

i might switch Artie and Stepan because of the sole fact that Artie is the better faceoff man. not by much, but still better. Stepan gets hammered in that faceoff circle night after night. he seriously needs work in that department.

but back on topic, i'm really excited to see this kid play tonight. hopefully he takes a spot on the PP because of the lack of Hagelin. it's better than Mitchell, right?

Yep, let them try and catch him. And if they do, let's see how they react when he fights back. I hope the elbows and slewfoots don't come back out.

Not sure a single Sens player weighs 230 lbs. I think Michalek is the closest.

Dont worry about being a scorer Kreider. Just be a relentless and aggressive forechecker/physical force on that line and good things will happen.

Only Senator who is over 230 is Carkner @ 237. Cowen is also 230.

@ Sen fans getting arrogant because the series is tied 1-1.

You'd think they were on the verge of sweeping the series...

Kreider's played against pros before in the World Championships--two years in a row. He's probably going to be nervous but even so--many of those guys were NHL'ers. Physically I don't see why he would have a problem. Other areas like positioning I'd worry more about. Left wing is not as problematic as center though. This would be a great test for him. He has excellent size and great speed and very good agility.

As far as I know he never actually had to physically practice to burn the ELC. If he was activated, added to the roster, even if it were just a paper transaction and not a real one, he would be earning pay based on the terms of his contract and as soon as the contract was active, the first year was lost. Unless, of course, the team waited until next year to add him to the roster.
Thank you for the detail.
I was under the impression it was not the signing to the contract that the ELC kicks in; rather whether or not he officially practiced/skated with team.
