Yeah, heard about that last week- there is a long overdue purge at the worthless rag- took out a bunch of deadwood- it won't help a bit.

Issues with AZR certainly weren't Jimmy's fault. They give Goldwater more time than the Coyotes. It's sad. Wish you well Jim.......good guy for sure!!

As I understand it, she's covering the team now and if the team stays she will be the full time beat reporter.

In other words, the quality won't improve.

Yea, but women get paid less than men and young reporters get paid less than veterans. It's a win - win for the Republic.

That's too bad. He did a serviceable job, particularly when compared to his predecessors.

The last guy before Gintonio was David Vest, who is now employed by the Coyotes in a similar manner. He always struck me as knowing hockey moderately well, but was less than engaging as a writer. Before that they had Bob MacManaman, who knew d**k about hockey. My comment the next morning about his reports was always, "was he watching some other game than the one I watched?"

I'm not sure its a gender issue but I have several friends that work(ed) at Gannet (the Republic) and they regularly usher out the old for newer and cheaper talent.

That's the case across the board in journalism. And in any financially suffering industry, really.

Caught a tweet from him that hinted he could be freelancing some. The Tennesean probably contracted with him to cover the series here.

I like Sarah, she is from Edmonton and knows her hockey. Plus she is attractive which is always a plus. Follow her on Twitter she always has updates and is in my opinion already better then Jim.

McLellan is awful. We just made it to our first WCF and she manages to make her article read like a weather report. Sooooooo bland. At least Jim seemed to give a crap.

She also predicted the Preds in 6. Its not like she strayed from other people's picks but Azcentral always shows homerism for local teams and not showing faith in the Coyotes was a slap in the face IMHO.

Smokin' hot babes are a dime a dozen. Yea, she knows her hockey despite the occasional ditzy question to Tippett. Unfortunately she writes as if she eats newsprint for breakfast, bland as can be.

Gintonio also made past predictions against the team. Sarah did an statistical analysis between the two teams and came up with what she did.

Isn't that what reporters are supposed to do? OR would you rather have a writer who constantly blows smoke up your caboose?
