I still want Leighton to win a Cup with us. And yes, the thought of some fluke scenario that gets him on the playoff roster did cross my mind when I saw McKenzie's tweet.

I don't. What has he done to deserve it, besides costing us one already?

They never would have gotten there without him. They wouldn't have even made the playoffs. He saved that season on multiple occasions. I feel like we owe him gratitude more than anything. Yes, he was overwhelmed in the SCF, but he was the 4th string goalie on our depth chart. I don't hold anything against him.

He was dragged along for the ride by the team in front of him. I remain un-impressed.

That's just not true. I'm sure you must know how irrational you are being. It would be better if you could just get over that goal in Game 6.

2009-2010 Regular Season
Michael Leighton .918 SV%
Ray Emery .905 SV%
Brian Boucher .899 SV%

2010 ECQF vs Boston
Brian Boucher .891 SV%
Michael Leighton .943 SV% (entered series down 3-0)

2010 ECF vs Montreal

Michael Leighton .950 SV%

THANK YOU MICHAEL LEIGHTON

Leighton's success in the playoffs that year had a lot more to do with Chris Pronger being on the ice for 25-30 minutes a game than anything.

Don't go down this road, man. I've been there. It is pointless. For some reason, despite his three shutouts in the ECF, he doesn't get credit for anything and only shoulders the blame. Even though the primary scoring and third pairing on defense didn't show up, it is still Leighton's fault they lost and he deserves no credit for his wins throughout the playoffs.

Timonen, Coburn and even Carle played some pretty solid hockey as well. Our team as a whole had a lot more focus on defense during that cup run. In part because our goalies were not really up to the task, and everyone knew it.

agreed..

when you try to discuss Leighton here, you just end up smacking ur head against a wall..

if you enjoy him as a Flyer, just enjoy it and leave it at that..

those who hate him, arent interested in changing their minds..

personaly ima huge fan, and will always thank him for the journey that was the 2010 PO/SCF's..

I'm sure it's just an insurance move since Phantoms are out of playoffs.

Id rather give Hartnell goalie pads than have to watch Leighton lose us another playoff series.

It's NOT the goal in Game 6. It's how he ****ing played, which was badly. Almost ANY time he was challenged, in the season and playoffs, he folded. If the team in front of him didn't play with such desperation he wouldn't have had those numbers. They played like their mothers were in net without pads, because they knew ANY shot thrown on goal might go in if it was placed somewhere that would require Leighton to move a limb. He was a trash can in net. If the puck didn't go where he was already placed, it went in. If the team didn't hold the other team to low percentage areas, they scored.

Let's not forget that it was Boucher who got them into the playoffs as well...not Leighton. Leighton sucked. He had the fortune of playing behind a high powered team that could also play very good defense. I've been saying he sucks and that he was a product of the team in front of him playing like they have an empty net since we grabbed him off waivers, because anybody with eyes could see that. You need to stop letting the Cinderella story glory cloud your judgement. He and his stats were the product of the team. The team and it's success was NOT a product of him.

Leighton isnt that good, let me get that out of the way. He also should NEVER see the Flyers uniform again. That being said though, I do think he gets an exaggerated amount of hate because of the Stanley Cup. Also alot of it is from Boosh fans. The truth is though is that Boosh was horrendous playing behind THE EXACT SAME DEFENSE. Thats the truth. Boosh was bad, Leighton was better, and some people here were pissed off about it. I remember one person even went as far as to say that it "wasnt fair to Boosh" that the team did better infront of Leighton than Boosh.

I didnt think Leighton was that good at all, but when Leighton got blamed for that 1-0 loss to the Oilers saving 33 shots and the Flyers barely breaking 20 and getting shutout, you knew alot of the hate was blind hate. Leighton isnt a very good goalie though. Thats the reason why no one takes him on waivers or re-entry waivers. It's simply that he isnt a good goalie.

The Flyers make the playoffs like every year. Black Aces shouldn't be a new concept. 44 posts is too many for a paper transaction.

Dave Isaac said that he is still behind Bacashihua on the depth chart anyways.

Yeesh, take it easy. I've been watching hockey my entire life and posting around here for a couple years now and this is the first time I've heard of "black aces" in the playoffs. The term and concept has obviously gone under the radar if this many people are in the dark about it.

Leighton sucks but he's not that bad for a 3rd/4th stringer

This is the first time you've heard of black aces? This isn't meant to be rude or anything, but I'm surprised since you're around here so much and active.

With all the banter about Michael Leighton last year, not sure how that could escape anyone who was paying attention.
