The puck literally died everytime it was on his stick. How are you going to score any goals when the guy you've deemed your primary puck distributer can't make an up-ice pass without creating an interception?
I'm going to start calling him Alexander "Black Hole" Edler.
Like I said, I'm not sad... In another dimension Henrik Sedin is leading playoff scoring on his way to winning the Conn Smythe.
Although, to his credit he did throw a huge hit last night that made my jaw drop.

He's one of six defensemen and honestly why is he being put in that position if he's falling apart. I'm most annoyed with AV right now out of everyone.
While he was brutal, there were MANY times we had the puck in their zone. We dominated puck possession and spent a TON of time in LA's zone. It ended up in a million perimiter shots and no one driving for rebounds.

I agree with you completely, the anemic offense has been pathetic. We got Kassian to play in this very role and AV staples him to the bench. Even if the kid isn't the best offensively yet, at least play him because he's the only one who can play up to this environment and intimidates the Kings. Outside of Hansen and Booth this offense is terrible and playing like *******.
I guess I'm just frustrated because if you're going to dominate the regular season and look like a 6M dollar defenseman, don't choke during the playoffs. He makes it so he appears like he can handle the role of quarterback and then chokes all over the place when the important games happen.
I agree, in a sense it is a coaching issue, but what is AV supposed to do? Make Hamhuis lead guy on the PP? He doesn't have a lot of options. I would say let Keith Ballard do it, but AV doesn't trust him with anything, so why would he start now?
Perimeters shots are fine, as long as you got players driving to the net for the rebounds...we didn't have that, and we lost. Man, just like two or three quality scoring chances more and we probably get one. Danny Sedin is sorely missed.
Edler is still young by D standards. Look at guys like Boyle, Campbell, etc. — they haven't really fully broken out until they were in their 30s. I think he'll learn and settle down, would be a huge mistake to give up on him this early. He just needs to keep working on his defense.
BTW I'm not suggesting we give up on him, just really frustrated.
Yeah this is where I am at with the whole team in general.
Agreed that we need more bounces (without bad luck we would have no luck) but you have to create those to sometimes. Drive to the wide side of the net shoot so quick has to kick it out that way and have somebody there.
...So what in the blue hell happened last night? I'm still kind of in shock.
Not so much what happened last night...It's what's been happening since January and a continuation of what happened most of last year's playoffs. This team needs to find more ways to generate goals when the games get tighter. Whether that's a new coach bringing in a new system or some personnel changes in our top 6, something has to change. Zero goals from Booth, Kesler, Raymond, and Higgins is unacceptable. Hopefully Raymond has played his last game in a Canucks uniform.

I totally agree with you. I'm hoping for a Flyers mini-rebuild this off-season. At this point, I'd only be mad if Hansen, Lapierre or Kassian were traded.

I'd be pissed if the Twins got dealt. Henrik in particular showed that he seemed to know what it takes. The Twins were our only top forwards to show up.

I just want Edler dealt before the rest of the league figures out how terrible he is.

Seriously? He was fantastic last playoffs. You're going to scrap heap a 26 year old D man who just put up a 49 point season because he had one bad playoffs?
I was as frustrated with Edler as anyone, but he's still a massive piece of this team.

The Flyers rebuild is virtually impossible. It seems like they are elite at finding idiots to take on their problem contracts.
The equivalent of a flyers rebuild would be us trading Kesler and 1st to Carolina for Sutter and Skinner.

I sure as hell dont want Edler traded. But I think this is the best time to negotiate an extension for July 1.
