Yep, there`s traffic (Poo driving to net was nice) then there`s ineffective traffic which we see too often, a guy stands in front, but when the shot is coming in, they shift out, give the goalie a better sightline and it`s an easy save, this is a Looch special, he needs to stand in front, and stay there, don`t bloody move.
Look at Neil`s OT goal the other night, had he shifted out, Lundqvist most likely would have made the save and easily gotten a whistle, Neil stayed exactly where he was, and banged home the rebound, THAT is traffic
There isn`t one Bruin, bigger or smaller who isn`t capable of standing in there, it all comes down to will and the courage to know you`ll get pounded but the reward is there

It's not like they have to worry about Pronger-esque crosschecks either...I mean Green, Wideman, Hamrlik...should be no fear of going to the slot for the B's.

Exactly, I`d argue that the Caps D is about as soft as they come, exploit it

Problem is a 1-4 is designed to counter that among other things....You have got me thinking about how to solve that now. I would say less dump and chase even though that is the book when you keep three or four men back... Our defensemen are going to have to beat the first man, and the the forward need to hit the blue line with speed. Some picks will be necessary as well.....Illegal but necessary. But yes it would be nice if our players went into the corners and finished their checks...

And if you're small, you can study the crafty net-front (and net-side) ways of a Briere. This is right up Marchand's alley.
People forget how stressful that Habs series was it seems... Lose the first 2 at home...Hang on in game there, barely. Win game four in OT. Win game 5 in 2OT. Lose game 6 then be tied in period 3, game 7, go ahead only to have it tied with about a minute left....then OT.

Stressful ****.
Yep, losing Game 2 on Saturday was nothing compared to last year in the first round.
I just love how nobody was complaining after game 1, but as soon as they lost game 2 everyone was going on about how they've played like crap all series long.

Guess you missed my 4 paragraph rant after game 1 !!
Truthfully, a lot of the same things were being said then, by a lot of people.
I think they've been playing very well except they need to get in closer to the net and get more shots through. Way too many are getting blocked. Over a 7-game series usually the better team wins.

Yeah, a lose always makes me nervous. But its not always a bad thing in the long run. Its good to make it clear that long stretchs where we don't find a way to put goals up result in loses. I think sometimes this team thinks (subconsciously) "don't worry...just play even and we'll get what we need at some point."
But when you get a goal or two a game you're always walking a thin line, even in games your winning in the trenches if not on the scoreboard. I'm hoping that cashing in becomes front and center in mind, right up there with layered defense.
Gotta find a way to turn our great chances into goals. Or we'll be flipping a coin or worse every game. Yes, the easiest way to do that is to get some sort of foothold in front of their net. We haven't seen any offensive net front presense so far.
Pay the price down low. Make it happen.
Good place to start. I think Holtby would be a little less legendary with somebody doing something effective in his face. No brainer.
...Oh, and on the bright side, the ice has got to be better in Washington...That should help both clubs offensivley. I'll def sign for that with our needs.

Heard it was awful earlier, 90+ degrees in DC today. I'm looking for updates on the conditions myself.

Yeah, that was kinda a snide comment. As I was writing it I thought...ehh, prob won't be much better with the hot weather. Figures.
Ehh, in the end, even for the negatives...I trust this team to get it done. As I said, this team has shown that an odd lose isn't always a bad thing for them.
