To night with Alfie out all the defence is thrown out agaisnt one line.

Unfortunatley when Spezza is pressured he reverts to his old bad habits but he has been a lot better this year.Hopefully this will be rectified next game when Alfie and comes back.

Bobby Butler had an amazing game as did the rest of our 2nd line! Really hope PM keeps them together next game and puts Alfie on the top line if he is back. With that effort we def can win game 4, this series is far from over

Great game for us, just one lucky bounce cost us. Andy was unreal. Spezza wasn't as bad as people make his night seem

Rangers are definately a beatable team...but I have no hate towards them....I'd be alot more pissed off playing the Bruins than the Rangers...like someone else said got to tip your hat to Lundqvist...

Spezza was OK but needs to be great, the thing that really annoyed me tonight was when he had the partial 2 on 1 with Turris and waited, waited, waited and then passed to Turris when he had a clear shot at the net.... And of course the puck never made it to Turris.

All I know is that Foligno better be signed longterm. Not only is he developing chemistry with Turris, but he's making a statement to be the 2nd line LW for this team. Dude's compete level is through the roof.

Yea, as someone else mentioned maybe it's possible the Rags are just doing a great job of containing Spezza and shadowing him. Not giving him any lanes to pass through.

Yes, Spezza had a **** game and Milo's been invisible. I hope they bounce back large in game 4.

On the one hand - you look at Silfverberg (sp?) and Zibanejad and think - we're already playing good hockey - we get a bit more high-end talent in and we could be a real threat.

But on the other hand I want to win in the playoffs now. After tonight it seems possible if Michalek and Spezza stop slumping.

The painful thing about spezza this game is the kids would come out pin down the rangers for 2 or 3 shifts and then spezza comes out with his blind passes and then its all rangers. also 9MM was also bad...... awful really... but i consider him a second liner anway.

I loved the overall battle level of the team it just kills me that the vets were the ones letting the kids down.

There isn't any pressure in those games....that's the thing.
Spezza is a very good player but when things become airtight he has a lot of trouble opening space and he doesn't have the drive/ability to drive to the net or create space.

Like Pat Burns told him back in the day at a worlds:

"Do you want to be a guy that gets 90-100 points and never wins, or get 60-80 and be a two-way player that's hard to play against?" (Paraphrasing).
Spezza needs to do more in the post-season or this team will be perennial first-round patsies.

So what do you think will happen when Alfie is gone?? I just woke up and realized this team is not making past the first round. And should continue the rebuild. They are lacking.

After Alfie is gone, there is no superstar on this team. No top notch player that will drive the net and get you a goal when you need it. The closest thing we have is Karlsson but he can't do it alone. We need to bring in plenty of young talent next year.

I know it's only one game. But from what I saw tonight, the team cannot put the puck in the net.

What is the stats for w-l-t when Alfie is out of the lineup btw?

I think the biggest frustration by most sens fans is that this was a winnable game. We outplayed the Rangers for the majority of the game but Lunqvist was on fire. Spezza and Michalek both had bad games, but what made it worse is that we really needed one of the to step up big to get a goal on Lunqvist. Those are the guys that can come up with the big goal when a top goaltender is having an amazing game. Also with the loss of Alfie, we needed someone to compensate for the loss of offence. That falls primarily upon Spezza and Michalek. They both need to play a lot better for us to win this series.

I was pleasantly surprised by Bobby's play tonight. Really proud of the way he picked up his game.

I think it's why I don't feel disappointed about this loss. It was a strong game for so many of the guys. Andy was a beast. We lost 1-0 to the first place team in the east. It's all good.

wow @ some of you.

Its like some of you are waiting for spezza to have an off night so you can just rip into the guy. (*cough*9mm*cough*)

Lundqvist stole the show, thats what elite goaltending does for you in the playoffs.

They have Girardi and McDonagh shadowing Spezza all the time, give them credit.

Let's not forget he was 110th in forward scoring this year (about 135th in PPG if you take out guys with low GP). If you say there are 180 top 6 forwards in the NHL, then he fits right in as a second liner, and is still young.

The flipside is Turris + Foligno were great. They had some great opportunities. That being said - Michalek and Spezza really need to get some good changes besides that one shot in the high slot.
