They just said on MSG originally that Scott was in and then changed it to he is scratched right before they went to commercial, so we will see!

http://www.nhl.com/scores/htmlreport...2/RO030113.HTM has been updated to show Kreider is in. Funny how quickly things change.

Revised: given that he will be on the top line, no less than breaking the record for playoff goals will be acceptable. Not the record for goals in a single playoff game. The record for goals in the entire playoffs.

-Nervous
-Awesome physical tools
-Doesn't know what to do in some offensive situations yet (very little time in playoffs)
-Was replaced by Stepan at the end of the game on the top line
-Some decent plays in the offensive zone

Overall, he gets a B- for his first game. Not a liability, but not great.

His first shift was his best, and it got progressively worse from there. Not a liability though, which is all you can ask for making this kind of jump.

Looked more nervous and gassed than anything.

Top line is a lot of pressure for the rookie he didnt look like a top line player while he was out there and torts moved him down. He was solid just not ready for the top line, which is what i woulda expected and i was suprised to see him start there

He looked alright. Nothing super, but not bad at all.
Showed flashes of speed, and could have scored a goal as he was fighting for a puck at the door step.
He needs to get more involved in the defensive zone though, but thats the only "bad" thing i can think of that i saw from him. He gets a little passive at times.
For a first pro game, it was a good effort from a young kid.

First game and he'll get better but to me he looked like a deer in headlights. Confused, not real sure where he was suppose to be. The CBC announcers even comentented on his seemingly confused approach.

I thought he looked good for the situation he was in. Used his speed a few times, and made some nice play with the puck. Not overly physical, but he engaged with defenders a few times. Was around the net frequently. Set a good screen on one play and then came close to getting the rebound. He made a couple of smart plays with the puck.

Pulled up on a few hits, which I didn't like. He also didn't seem very strong on his skates. Went down pretty easy a few times.

I don't think it got progressively worse at all, up and down really, but no extremes. He was decent in front of the net almost getting his first goal, knew what to do around the boards, and was slowly but surely getting comfortable with his defensive positioning.

If anything, I thought he played very timid. Though he did get involved in some plays, I think he was hanging back a bit waiting for the rush or a pass to him.

For his first NHL game after very little time to adjust and gel with the team, not to mention it being the playoffs, he did what was expected of him today and played it safe.

-Looked nervous at first
-Made strong physical plays with the puck on the boards
-Was much better in the 2nd than in the 1st
-Almost scored a goal, had good positioning at Anderson's doorstep
-Looked lost/confused in some situations without the puck
-Definitely looked like he was gassed toward the middle/ends of his shifts.

In summary, needs a summer of Camp Tortorella in my opinion but adjusted pretty well to the pace of the game after the first period and for someone's first career pro game was not bad (but not great either).

The above poster hit the nail on the head ^

He looked like a player who played all year with one team, and just recently joined another team, and wasn't really sure where to be

His physical abilities were as impressive as advertised, the way he held on to the puck and battled.

His awareness though was very impressive, covering for pinching D-men, picking up the off wing while defending the rush.

I think once he has a little time to build up some chemistry he could be something special

and if you at all supersitious his toi was: 11:11

Pretty much what I expected. Flashed his speed and was effective on the forecheck and hunting down pucks. Looks a little tentative but..well..DUH. Got better as the game progressed, and looked solid overall given the situation (playing with Richards & Gabby on the road in a 1-1 series, just nuts).
