If you're directly circumventing office IT policy, you might as well be filing applications elsewhere because at any place that gives enough effort to block that stuff, the only question is "when" they find you and establish corporate discipline, not "if."
It really depends on how water tight the blocks are. There are lazy ways to block sites, and there are professional ways to block sites. It also depends on why they are blocking sites to begin with.

Furthermore, if management finds out about it...you're obviously putting in a lot of effort to do something they explicitly do not want you to do, and that generally doesn't go over well.

i'm not tech guru but if you're on an intranet they can log anything your computer does. i'm positive ours can. Luckily they're a lot looser with restrictions than most places. It doesn't depend on anything--even if they can't tell what sites you're visiting, the act of circumventing IT policies is punishable by termination. Not automatic, but if they feel like it it's a good way to rid themselves of someone they want to fire.

It depends on if they bought the quality equipment or the discount stuff. If they've got top of the line intelligent switches and the appropriate software on their computers, they can log every keystroke, mouse click, and bit of data that you send over the network at all. Discount gear? No monitoring software? They wont see a damned thing.
But this is way off topic. All I did was as a question here.

Helios - Eingya is probably my favorite ambient album. Soooo good.
Sigur Rós isn't really electronic music, though. I guess they're more post-rock with some indie influences, sort of?
I dunno, they're Icelandic. Just imagine what kind of music people from Iceland would make.

That's one subset of Ambient. That's more 'chillout' than ambient as a whole, but using ambient as a genre has been around since before the post-trip idea of ambient music, Brian Eno coined the term (many say) in the 70s.
As Eno says "Ambient Music is intended to induce calm and a space to think." Eno again, on ambient music "[it can be] actively listened to with attention or as easily ignored, depending on the choice of the listener"
Slow BPM is pretty much a must, but everything else can vary incredibly.

nooope. i rarely even try to get into nitpicky detailed arguments of any kind concerning music as there are people who take it far more seriously than I do. especially with electronic music as a whole--deep house, techno, acid house, drum and bass blah blah blah. I like what i like, and i'm fine with generic umbrella labels.

I somehow got dragged into it, halfway through i had a "oh my god what am I doing with my life?" moment.
Yeah I'm not getting fired over trying to listen to music online.
I can use my phone if I need to listen to music. Don't do it often, but it's nice to put on the headphones and cruise when doing data entry.
Otherwise I'm ALT+TAB'ing between this and whatever else I'm working on (if I have anything to work on, which I usually don't) and then get nothing done.
