Boom Boom diagnosed with cancer

Link

Apologies if this has been covered already, I had a look for anything on this topic but couldn't see anything. Bernie "Boom Boom" Geoffrion has been diagnosed with stomach cancer. I've not seen many clips of him play but I've heard a lot about him and he seems like a great guy both on and off the rink. Here is to hoping that it's something he can overcome. Get well soon Boom Boom, we are all thinking of you.

As the article says, he will be in Montreal this Saturday when the Habs retire his #5

The Boomer was my first favorite player. I can't say I remember watching him wear the CH but as a kid, I thought the name was cool. I always thought he was a great guy, great sense of humour. From what I've read over the years, he has the same quality that most players from great teams had, he absolutely hates losing.

After all the emotion in yesterday's GDT, this puts into perspective how important a dumb game is.

He was my dad's idol, I wish him all the luck in the world and a speedy recovery.

I hope the fans welcome him this Saturday and give him the best ovation ever. Deserve it, was a very good player (what I heard) but is battling the greatest challenge of his life and we must demonstrate that we will think of him throughout this illness.

Go Boom Boom!

it sucks that Boom Boom's cancer gets overshadowed by Théodore

It won't overshadow him all the focus will be on him Saturday night and the fans are gonna be great . It's gonna make the papers front page and will be talked just as much .

Stomach cancer? This is one of the rarest cancers there are. It is only (relatively) common in Hungary and Japan, of which Geoffrion is not. But the best to him, a good, quick recovery I wish him.

Kinda;all cancers "can" be cured. Stomach cancer falls in the category of 10-15% chance.
