Not sure where to put this, so I'll do it here in the hopes that someone can pass it down the proper tubes.
I was surprised to see that the NHL Ticker at the MTS Centre isn't following along with the playoff scores... The scores that scrolled through were up to the minute as of the last second of the Jets' last game. I guess that means they're manually updated... But you'd think they'd either take the scores off for concerts over the off-season, or have someone who knows how to update them doing that for people in the crowd that like hockey (of course I am only talking about before and after the show, as the power ring is turned off during the concert if it's not being used by the performers). The Ticker part of the ring is in use at these events, as part the scroll is advertising upcoming MTS Centre events. And they need someone with at least limited knowledge / access to the Power Ring in order to run the ads before the show, and the no smoking / you must wear hard hats messages afterwards... So it's probably pretty do-able
I started my "new" job yesterday. (Same job just different department)
Working 4 10's now... bit of a long day... but having Friday's off will be worth it!
I feel you bros but it could be worse for you... I'm in a work experience job until the end of the month and then... I have to take summer classes May-mid July (at least I get August off).

Meh. Tom Barak clearly knows his audience, even if it numbers in the double digits.
LOL at that page layout. I'll have to post it to my usenet group for discussion. By then I'll be so pissed off, I'll need to slam a Red Dog and do some Web surfing on AltaVista to unwind.
Just proof that any moron with an opinion can get 'published'
Absolute malarky that completely ignores the positive economic impact sports teams have (I won't bore anyone with the FACTS)
Imagine if the government did nothing to promote business? No tax cuts, infrastructure improvements, incentives? It would be like Soviet Russia here.
Absolute garbage, and idiotic Conservatives eat this **** up too.
You mean like that idiotic Conservative Hugh McFadyen who wanted to bring the Jets back 5 years ago?
And trust me when I say that Soviet Russia's economic problems weren`t related to small-government tax cutting conservatives...
That article does ignore the economic impact of having a $100-million-per-year business and 20 new millionaires moving into town. But in large part, the reason guys like Hainsey get $millions is because governments are willing to subsidize pro sports. It`s not incorrect to say TNSE has received a lot of government money and continues to on an ongoing basis. That guy was certainly being a dick about it...

First of all, I was more thinking radical conservatives, and yes, I appreciate Soviet Russia's problems were not due to the governments lack of subsidies for business

SELF MOD: WTF was I thinking. Talking politics on a hockey forum. I apologize to anyone that read it.
He mentions nothing of the taxes from ticket purchases, increased tourism to the city, creation of jobs, rejuvenation of downtown, and the fact that restaurants and lounges have received a bump from the team returning.
He also decides not to mention that a lot of these tax breaks were in place before the NHL was even a outside possibility. Winnipeg was in danger of having no indoor venue for hockey or large concerts.
