Who are the greasy guys on team GB?
The mouthpiece that gets under the skin. The guy 1st to the boards that makes the opposition look over their shoulder, the guy that makes the other team keep their head up. The guy jamming the goalie?
Any rats on this team?
Might need them in the next few games........matching skill on skill figure skaters ain't workin' out so far.
Most of GB's goals have come from outside. Put the puck on net and crash the net from anywhere don't wait for a pretty set-up.
What style would you call Murphy he isn't butterfly almost stand-up?
Rob Farmer for sure. I don't watch the EIHL so I don't know most of the players very well.
In other news THF are pissing me off again, GB hockey take a massive leap forward with the Okanagan Academy in Swindon and all those morons have done is moan about how it only benefits kids who can afford it, which of course is true but at least it benefits someone, they act like it is a bad thing. These people are just impossible. So much unwarranted negativity.

Give Woolhouse the next start
Murph looked lost on a couple of goals v Austria, can-opener and losing track of the puck. One goal he was caught between doing a butterfly slide and a Hasek flop and ended up not covering half the net.
Mind you his D and back checkers didn't help by not picking up their man.
Need some..I got new gloves wanna smell them.........I wasn't trying to chicken wing ya..I have involuntary muscle spasms in my right arm.
No I wasn't trying to put your face threw the glass..I was trying to point out the hawt chick in row 4.
I'm just tapping you on the calves to let you you know I'm still here and care...the girls will love the black and blue marks on the beach this summer.
Helluva a nice stick. mind if I hold it in my armpit for a few minutes?
I thought your goalie looked flushed and he'd appreciate a refreshing snow shower.
Unleash the rats need a couple of W's
It's a collision sport.....collide.
Yeah... no. I'm assuming you've never seen Woolhouse play, I was hoping he wouldn't even sniff the possibility of making the entry list roster let alone backup spot. This is why Stevie Lyle no longer wanting to play for GB really hurts us because if Murphy ***** the bed we haven't got anyone else. Woolhouse did have impressive numbers for Sheffield this year but a majority of his games were probably against teams like Fife and Dundee. I watched him for half a season in Swindon 2 years ago and he was by far the worst starting goalie in the EPIHL that season. I think he is just one of those guys who suffered from sitting on the bench for several seasons and he just couldn't cut it in a starting job.
Honestly I would even pick current EPIHL goalies like Stephen Fone and I would greatly consider Tom Murdy over Woolhouse, I really do not rate him at all. I think Nathan Craze should be the backup with Bowns not far behind as the 3rd choice.
Woolhouse has come on in leaps and bounds. Yes, most of his games were against the "lesser teams", but he's played in a few Sheffield-Nottingham games and was outstanding, taking those games to shootouts only conceding 2 in each game.
And don't be fooled by those games against the weaker teams, in some of them he was forced to stand on his head and made a string of great saves.
I'm not advocating starting Woolhouse, but there is a reason he's been taken with the GB team.
As for the grittier players, Hewitt and Farmer fill that role well and Hutchins is with the team as well and he will head to the dirty areas.
"British people" or "The British." Is it really that difficult? "Britishers" isn't even a word.
As for your "post" Great Britain is one of the founding members of the IIHF and we have around 5,000 registered players, our professional league has the 9th highest average attendance in Europe, some of our teams have better average attendances than Russian KHL teams.
Learn some facts before you come in here trying to make fun of us with your condescending name calling and generalisations

It's the unfortunate reality of hockey, it comes with a large price tag. You need to pay for referees, ice rentals, the equipment, travel costs, etc. I've known some guys who were very natural hockey players who either didn't have enough money to play hockey or didn't get to play organized hockey until they were into their teens. I know myself, I always wanted to be a goalie. Now, as a 5'09" grown adult I know I wouldn't have gone anywhere with it for sure, but I could never afford to pay for new (or even used) goalie equipment on a yearly basis. That stuff is crazy expensive.
I'm unsure how hockey registrations work where I live, but I think there should be a reduced rate for goalies for sure.
I know Okanagan Academy has been traveling over there for years to put on clinics and here in Canada they developed some great young players like Curtis Lazar, but are you saying that Okanagan Academy is putting in a full time school there or is it still just the regular camps they've had for a while now?
Wow that's a huge step forward!
I know there was a number of Brits coming over to play at Okanagan already.
Are the top U16's and U18s taking Okanagan seriously or no?

I doubt the U18's will attract many top players since they will all be good enough to have a place on a senior team, but the U16's should mostly be top players so it will be greatly beneficial. With the U18's I think it will help develop some of the guys who aren't quite good enough yet to be playing EPIHL or ENL division 1, and will result in much more depth of the player pool and improve the quality of the leagues in the long run.
So the standard of the EPL isn't entertaining enough for you then? The players may be less skilled but the fact it's a lot less predictable and more competitive than the Elite league makes up for that IMO.
I never said it wasn't entertaining
I just wish there was more quality and interest. I've been to a few games recently and it's been fun again.

I was not intending to make fun of you. Britisher is most definitely a word as you can see by the definition below. I've heard it used in America many times.

Yes you were, you came in here with no contribution to the discussion in the thread and trolled us about how we apparently do not know what hockey is. Britisher may be a word in American English but in real English it isn't.
Colin Shields is the Group's scoring leader and as I don't particularly follow Elite league, can anyone shed any light on why he departed the States to come back over here. Judging by his stats, he was awesome in college (NCAA) and was not that bad at the ECHL level

Just curious.
He probably makes more money in the EIHL than in the ECHL, and came back when he realised he wasn't good enough for the AHL.
Update on the score: Dowd scores a penalty shot to make it 1-1.

I assume no-one offered him a spot as he never participated in the AHL?
Would have been interesting to see if someone did take a punt. As I said, I don't follow it as much as I'd like, but is Shields one of the best British players we've had?
EDIT: Wow, he was drafted by my team, Philadelphia. Never knew that!

If they did he would have taken it. He was 27 when he came home the 2nd time, so at that point it was too late for him to make the AHL.
Yes he is, the only player with more success than Shields in North America is David Phillips, 64 AHL games. Tony Hand is by far the best, followed by Longstaff, Shields and Phillips. David Longstaff played 45 games in the SEL and scored 20 points. Stephen Murphy has had success in Europe, he played two seasons in Allsvenskan and 2 in Norway. Stevie Lyle was taken in the CHL import draft and played 6 games in the OHL. Scott Neil was a top player in his day, but never played overseas.
Edit: 3-1 GB Myers and Dowd, I love Russian commentators "oy oy oy oy oy!"
