With the way they are tossing people out of the circle it's probably not a bad idea to have an extra face off guy out there. Not to mention we won't have last change and this gives us a better defender.
True. With 7 secs left sunday, many of us in our section wished smithson was on bench.
#FlaPanthers to scratch Wojtek Wolski, Krys Barch, Mike Santorelli and Keaton Ellerby v #njDevils
It was the right move! And this is what we should expect for next season .Dont expect Wolski to be resigned. He was key for the stretch run thi season but not next season.
Sorry, he is good in the shootout but missed some great opportunity.
Samuellson has been better IMO and Tallon has to make some decisions
has anyone seen the point totals for the sammy-goc-bergy line. Its staggering. Its been the best line in the playoffs on both sides of the matchup so far AINEC.
Adding PP points into the mix:
Goc 1G 2 A-3 and +1
Sammy 0G 3 A-3 and +0
Bergenheim 1 G and 1 A-2 and +0
Total of 2G and 8 A for 10 points. Only one player on the devils has more than 1 point that is zubrus with 2.
The thing is, they all have been great. Goc has been the key man in faceoff, Sammy crucial on the PP and Bergenheim is creating energy, playing physical
The other think, why does Dineen not play them in crucial situations (Empty Net Game 1) Remember FlashMob was on the ice and we all know that our 2nd line was the best on the ice and Weiss sucked in Game 1

We need wolski for the regular season even if its just for OT reasons. We can not keep loosing these shootouts, and having a specialist like him IMHO is worht carrying.

if we assume huberdeau will be a good SO specialist (Praying he is) Next seaosn with wolski we would have two guys with SO percentages >30%. That is what you need to win roughly half your SO's. if we had that this season we would have had over 100 points.
I could careless if you bury wolski on the 4th line next season. But we need him in the SO.

All I'm saying is if we can find a guy who is both good at the shootout and can actually play the game. Some of the Panther fans talk like he's Jussi Jokinen of 06. He did what was asked of him in the season but we should part ways. Then again, he might still do something in the playoffs. You never know. I guess we just wait and see.
Hmmmm just noticed something......This game is not on FSN but Sunsports. Like many of you in South Florida I get the Sunsports channel but whenever there is a hockey game on it they always block it. I had to go find a stream to watch the 2nd last game of the season for the same reason, it was on Sunsports.
I'm going to be pretty annoyed if it's blocked on both Sunsports and NHLN tonight. I think last time it might have been an accident it was blocked because Sunsports carries the Lightning games and they are blocked in my area, it was strange that the Cats game got shifted to that channel.
Guess we'll find out tonight. Would prefer to watch the game in HD, instead of on my laptop with a low resolution feed from Europe.
I have to say, for all the offense Wolski brings, he is not a playoff time performer. Defense / face off ability doesn't slump. I'm still not ready to throw him out though.
I wouldn't say this is a 'must-win' but it would be nice to have the lead in the series. I'd think the pressure would be more on the Devils to get the wins at home. They haven't had great success there in the past compared to on the road. I can't disagree with Dineen's decision to play Smithson instead of Wolski, although it probably won't be a huge factor, or will it? That's why I love the playoffs because even the lesser-known guys can become heroes for not just winning a game, but be a major reason of why a team won an entire series.

Faceoffs and puck possession will be key tonight as we are playing on the road. The less Jersey has the puck the less the crowd will get into it. I think Matthias should sit this game and Smithson should play because Smithson has very good percentage In faceoff circle. Only guys who did well for us in faceoff last game were Goc and Versteeg! Zajac won like 12 of 15 for Jersey. We need another good faceoff Guy desperately on the road IMO.
Oh how the tides have turned on Wolski. We go from liking him to disliking him, back to liking him and now scratch him. Poor guy. Lol.
He's inconsistent but then again the type of player he is, it's not uncommon. He has come up with some clutch goals for us, and has helped us in the shootout. Sammy was decent enough during the season but really fell off near the end, and now everybody is fawning over him again in the playoffs because he has decided to turn it up a notch. What have you done for me lately? Applies here I suppose.
Not big time defending Wolski, as he can be better, but ah well.

guys on perennially playoff bound teams make their contracts during the postseason.
