I don't think Nick was a riser. I was reading the thread in the prospect section about teams draft boards, and someone posted the 2006 draft video. Pierre told GMGM that Backstrom was the best player. Doubt that would happen if he was a riser.
I watched a good amount of the 1st and a bit of the 2nd and Seth Jones for the US jumped out.
Very, very impressive. I'd probably take him over Yakupov were he available this year. Still needs some work in his own end at times but he has the makings of a franchise defenseman.
Grigorenko's Quebec Remparts blew a 3-0 series lead and 2-0 Game 7 lead to Halifax. Saint John will play Chicoutimi in the semis.
'12 prospects still alive in CHL playoffs: Ceci/Ottawa, Maatta/London, Frk/Halifax, Faksa/Kitchener, Pouliot/Portland (G7 tonight), Reinhart & Samuelsson/Edmonton and Rielly/Moose Jaw.
The Fighting Saints announced Thursday that forward and captain Zemgus Girgensons will miss the remainder of the season with a fractured jaw. Girgensons suffered the injury in his first shift of the first period of Tuesday’s win over Team USA. He continued to play in the game, even assisting on a goal, until he could no longer tolerate the pain, exiting the game after the second period. His jaw will be wired shut for a minimum of four weeks, and the recovery process will prevent him from playing in the remainder of the Clark Cup Playoffs. He is expected to make a full recovery in the offseason.
I've only seen Teravainen play a couple times but I think he's a very interesting prospect. Almost hoping for him now, I guess it probably helps that every ranking service is in love with him
USA crushes Sweden 7-0 for Gold. The US team just didn't give teams anything for free. Very impressive team defense. 2+3 for Kerdiles. Collberg didn't do much, which highlights some concern in him being able to create time & space. Forsberg had some dangerous chances but couldn't finish. Hampus Lindholm was flying in the first period. I don't have a great read on his skill set but he can really skate.
Canada takes Bronze 5-4 in OT. Gaunce with a short-handed goal. He also had a penalty shot miss. Teravainen held scoreless. His linemates weren't very good...Barkov had a fairly quiet tournament after showing pretty well at the WJC. Teravainen did show off some pretty good back-checking and how smooth he is running a PP.
