Stu Bickel

Stu Bickel picked up Lundqvist by making a save last night that would have absolutely otherwise gone in the net. Only God knows how mentally devastating that goal would have been in a playoff game that tight on the road. This guy is tough as nails, which everyone knows, but deserves a little more respect around here for his ability to play. So many people not too long ago argued "who's worse, Bickel or Mitchell?"

It's not Bickel's fault Torts' was playing him too much in the regular season at times. He's a third pairing guy and honestly has replaced Sauer's defensive presence very well with all things considered. When Torts uses him as a third pairing guy he is solid and fits in very well. His toughness and ability to fight just make him so much more valuable.

Where the Bickel haters at yo?

Watching Bickel play like this makes me laugh at how terribly bad McCabe was last year.

Bickel is proving to everyone that he's an NHL player. Not a great one, but a serviceable one. Even if we don't have room for him in the coming seasons, he should be able to find a job somewhere.

Bickel is putting in solid minutes. Making the safe play, being physical when needed.

Everything you'd need from a bottom pair defenseman.

The key is, as Torts as alluded to many times, Bickel is great at improving himself on the fly and he makes adjustments. He just keeps getting better. You rarely see him make the same mistakes twice (taking certain penalties notwithstanding).

no doubt it was a humongous awesome play, and bickel has been solid, but i think hank might have gotten that one too. watching the replay he was right behind bickel. of course bickel didnt know that and every shot blocked is one less sog. props to bickel for a big play.

Bickel has always made his presence known on the ice this series. Game 1 slapshot off (i think) Foligno's head was just awesome. The save last night was epic. Very proud.

I like Bickel. Think he's a poor mans Mike Sauer.

Think if he can keep his strength and improve hsi foot speed and positioning, he will make this another teams defence very tough to play against next year.

For as much as I do like him, I believe his time in NY may be a bit short depending on Sauer's health and Erixon's development.

He's a solid soldier and I would not be upset at the very least if we kept him at all.

Just think that if he has a good PO's, he can raise his stock and we can, potentially, take advantage of that.

Just sayin

He's a nice 7th defenseman who works hard and sacrifices his body. He's no Michael Sauer.

SOLID as a rock, when playing third pairing minutes because he's a third pair guy, torts was playing him 2nd pairing minutes and he couldn't handle it as well, but he's really been solid these past couple games.

I agree, I think Hank would have barely gotten a mitt on that one

Been a great player for us all year long, love how he has developed over the year and i believe he will be on the team next year. He is a cheap and very good option to have as a 6/7th dman. Erixon depends on how much muscle he can put on in the offseason, McIlrath isnt ready to step in for another year or two. Eminger will be on the team next year. Stralman has also shown he can also be a good extra defenseman. We need all the extra cheap options we can have.

I would love for Bickel to be a career 6/7 for us. **** he can even come in as a forward if needed although he is better as a defenseman.

Bickel has been a nice addition to this team and plays the NY way, Passion, ALL Heart, and is a stand up guy for his teammate. Great 6/7 guy.

Bickel has played a combined 19 minutes in this series. Torts is using 5 D.

But they've been 19 minutes of good solid play, which is more than the guys who are sitting were doing
