Players who scored on their final NHL shift?

There's been threads here before about players who scored on their first NHL shift (i.e. Lemieux, Mogilny), but how many players have scored on their last shift?

The only one I'm sure about is Bill Barilko. Scored in OT to win the Cup in 1951, then died that summer.

I thought Pierre Mondou might qualify, as he scored on the play where Samuelsson caught him in the eye with his stick, but it turns out that he did try to return to the lineup for a few playoff games later that season before deciding to retire.

Can anyone here think of anyone else?

Think I remember reading somewhere that Rob Ray scored on both his first-ever shift AND last-ever shift in the NHL.

Funny, given that he scored just 41 goals in his entire career.

Also, Mike Comrie, apparently.

didn't Lemieux actually did that in his first retirement?

Not quite, he scored in the first period of the Penguins' last playoff game in 1997.

That was his last home game.

Lemieux also got an assist on his first shift and scored in his first game back from retirement in 2000. Sweet little snap one-timer from Jagr past ... Curtis Joseph?

So few players "still have it" when they retire that a pre-mature off season death seems helpful. Tim Horton manage to score in his last game?

Edit: I forget who said it but I heard the quote about Mario's comeback, "they could write a novel but nobody would buy it because it's just not believable."

Sundin scored in the 3rd period of his last game (IIRC it put the Canucks up 5-4 in a game they would lose 7-5), although I'm pretty sure he had a few more shifts after that.

Didn't someone get a hattrick in their last game for Toronto a few seasons back and it turned out to be their last NHL game?

it's possible... a disproportionately high number of players aged 27-32 played their last NHL games for the Leafs in the 2006-2008 seasons.

That was Boyd Devereaux. It cost the Leafs a 2nd round pick, as they wouldn't have had to trade up to get Luke Schenn had they not won that game.
