I can't help but think every time I see a bonehead move like Raffi's hit on Hossa that all this stupidity and headhunting may have been avoided if Shanahan had suspended f-ing Weber.
I love chippy games but am gradually losing my apetite for this Stanley Cup Playoffs. Becoming a GOON show. I hope it can be salvaged back to the intensity and energy that is always characteristic of this time of year. But I have my doubts it is possible to pull back now.
I'll criticize Shanahan as much as anyone, if not more, but it wouldn't matter if players were being forcibly castrated for a minor penalty....Torres would still do something stupid like this.
I was in a bar in South Carolina tonight and there was about 10 Blackhawk fans in there watching the game and venting about the Torres hit. I really have no dog in the fight but for fun I asked them what they thought of the Shaw on Smith hit. Of course, in their perspective it was clean and Shaw was screwed.
And as I type this, Klesla scores!

Wow, quite a resume. Amazing he's not been suspended for longer term than he has.
A move he pulled a lot in Columbus was stopping real quick when a player was immediately behind him (mostly behind the net or going for loose puck in corner) and usually dropping said player with a shoulder to or near the head.
Shanahan just may give him the Wiznieski for his latest hit.
Fleury has what Umberger had earlier in the season, he looks no where near where he has in the past. Bryz may have benefitted playing in Phoenix from a more responsible defensive system.
Seriously. I can't mention enough how terrible this game/series has been.
Blue Jackets could sweep either team.
Philly will probably win this series despite tonight's debacle, but no way they get past a team like the Rangers or B's who have competent goaltending and defensemen.

Don't forget when someone else would go to check him, and he'd stick his arm/elbow up.
I don't agree with him, but I think he represents an old-line way of thinking that still plays a large part in how the game is played, particularly in the playoffs.

Looks like to me he got a lot of it right. I agree with a lot, have a couple of minor exceptions. I think there are some players in the league, however, that don't respect other players and their livelihood. We saw a NFL team get some pretty stiff penalties for crossing the line. No reason to believe that can't spill over into other sports.
