Lucic tends to snap in the heat of the moment, but not after he's had time to cool down. Something may indeed happen in the future and Looch will get some revenge, but I highly doubt it will happen next game unless it is a chance to lay Alzner out with a good check.
Lucic is going to end up getting another stupid penalty(s) when things get going. I'm all for him holding his ground and enforcing out there, but he need to do it at the right time and in the right way. Not so that he cancels out another powerplay...for the hundredth time.

How was that Lucic's fault?
He gets cross-checked by Wideman after the whistle, then grabbed by Hendricks. He punches Hendricks, Hendricks punches back, then Alzner grabs Lucic in a headlock from behind. Lucic gets a double minor; the Caps get nothing.

Please, explain to me how that was on Lucic.
Skate away. It's that simple. Your team is on the powerplay late in the game and you go taking a stupid penalty which results in a cancelled powerplay, 4-on-4 and then gives the Caps a powerplay. No reason to punch Hendricks and start that scrum while you're on a powerplay.

Skate AWAY? Who do you think Lucic is, Houdini? He was in the middle of a freaking Capitals sandwich, for God's sake. The officials blew the call, big time.
His coach appreciated his effort, anyway:

Boston Bruins @NHLBruins
CJ: "I liked Luch’s game yesterday; he was skating, he was physical, he was making things happen..."^BISH
Lucic was nudged/shoved first...I have no problem with his response. If the refs called it correctly, the Bruins would have remained on the PP. I don't think what Alzner did was all that bad, but he should have been called for roughing. The cry baby thing was just dumb. He'd be pissed too if he was engaged with a fellow tough guy like Hendricks and someone jumped him from behind.
I posted an Alzner/Steve Downey scrap (only one I could find) have a looksy, me thinks it wouldn't be pretty for Alzner, it would be the right thing to do after the silly gesture but....
I was surprised to read this article talking about how Alzner and Lucic were teammates in peewees in Vancouver. And later in the Canada-Russia junior series.
Not true. Kyle Beach made fun of it during juniors and Lucic exploded. He went on to beat the living **** out of Beach.
Right...but we're talking about last year and this year, not Lucic when he was 17-18 years old. People were extremely up in arms about it..I wish I remember who it was.
The Caps had Erskine dressed at practice today... he was paired with Wideman. So Wideman will instigate crap with Looch, Alzner will mug him from behind again, and Erskine will step in and go with Looch. Made me chuckle to hear Gresch & Zo on 98.5 saying how Erskine was brought in to ensure that Alzner gets out of the series alive.

If Bruce Boudreau saw his old capitals with three defenders on the ice...his heart would pop

Doh! Didn't realize Alzner was a d-man... shows how much he's impressed me (ie standing out with his play)... for some reason, I thought he was a forward. I'm an idiot. Never mind... carry on.
