Also, making prospect catcher Hank Conger stay in AAA as opposed to warming the bench, he has produced well offensively. In seven games, Hank has a .397 BA, 12 hits that include three doubles and two homeruns. Unfortunately, Conger already matches Trumbo in errors: 3. The plus side is that the Angels give Hank the whole season to work on his defense in AAA, which he was not able to do last season as Conger sat on the bench behind catchers Mathis and Wilson.
Yeah, seriously. They were talking about the Yankees, and didn't even react to Wells' homer until he was rounding third. Either they saw it happen, and were just apathetic. Or they were too interested in themselves to notice.
I thought these Angels were going to be good this year?
Lets' play the game called "When will Albert hit a homerun this year"? He's been a joke just like the pitching...
Everything thing improved except for the bullpen. But it's only been 9 games out of 162. Williams' debut was unfortunate, but the Angels were climbing back until their bullpen decided to crap out. The only wins so far belong to Weaver (1-0) and Wilson (2-0). That means Dan Haren and Santana haven't been up to par. New catcher Ianetta is tied for most homeruns for the team with two. Pujols has started off extremely slow, but does have 3 doubles and tied atop with walks at three.
What's not so good are Hunter and Wells. I can't believe how many players in scoring position were left on the diamond!
As for Pujols, I guess I'm not too concerned because during preseason he was able to launch quite a bit. Suppose he's pressing some. You can see that when tried to race for home while being told to stop at third by Dino, the third base coach. Pujols was caught out at home pretty easily.
Bright side is Trumbo is hitting very well. Now if he can only reduce his errors during the season at third or retire abreu, hunter, and wells already! Put Trumbo at right field, promote Trout to left and Morales can be the back up in the field. Maybe not.
But it's really early in the season to get all worried.
Bullpen still sucks, what have they blown like 3 leads already? Including a huge lead against the Twins. It needs to be fixed.
Last year, the main concern was at closer... namely Jordan Walden and his 10 blown saves. And let's not forget about the unforgettable side hat wearing Fernando Rodney's blown saves as well. To date, there are only two blown saves: Downs and Takahashi. Both are lefties.
But looking at this early season stats, the Angels are dying out there from their bullpen.

If the Warriors can be from the Golden State, the Angels can be from California.
This is all dependent on the owner. In fact, the Angels went back to Los Angeles as they first began. And to ensure he makes profits, wants to have this team associated with Los Angeles. It took me a while to get used to it, but I still refer to them as Anaheim Angels.
I know why he did it, but at the same time, with the same logic, wouldn't calling them the California Angels appeal to a MUCH larger audience?
When I'm talking to someone else about baseball, and they ask me what team I follow, it always catches in my throat when I say, "the... Los Angeles Angels". I refuse to call them the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. It's just too stupid.
