Who cares? Our success is based on everyone filling a role, no matter how "insignificant" it may be. Stu has a role and he has performed it well.

He's +1 and no goals allowed during these 19 minutes. He logged nine last game and made a great play on O'brien. I'd say he's done his job.

Bickel is nothing flashy, I wouldn't say the poor mans Sauer, I would say a better skating Strudwick. He can fight, can play defense, is a steady stay at home d-man who isn't going to wow anyone, but gets the job done and he can also play forward if need be.

I like Bickel to be the 7 man next season as he is cheaper than Eminger, granted Eminger has a lot more experience and also plays physical, but he does not provide what Bickel does in the fighting department.

I'd like to see this next year (provided Sauer is healthy)
McDonagh-Girardi
Sauer-Staal
Stralman-Del Zotto

ex: Bickel

Then we would have Erixon in Hartford as first call up

For the record,I like Bickel. The Rangers should re-sign him.

The guy has played 19 minutes. That's a fact. The Rangers should still re-sign him.

i get the feeling that we have several players down in Hartford who, given the opportunity, could play just as well as Bickel. But we're talking about Bickel, so phenomenal save and effort!

It certainly shows that we are only playing 5 D and about 9 forwards considering how the Sen guys are skating circles around us most of the game . They can roll 4 lines and Konopka takes a lot of draws...great 4th liner !

I would love to see Bickle kept on our team for a couple of more seasons on the 4th line / or blueline if we lose a D during a game . We could save money on Bickle over Rupp...probably 1/2 Million and Bickle is just as effective at the scrapping from what I watched this season . Personally I think you can stick a fork in Rupp...he is done . Watching via satellite does not tell me how Bickels foot speed is versus Rupp . Is it similar , better or worse ? Bickel definitely has the edge in eagerness...

lou nanne recently said he was asked by ranger management whether he would be negotiating the new contract for bickel (his response was that bickels manager would be doing that)- but from that conversation nanne believes the rangers are looking to (and expects them to) re-sign bickel this offseason.

If Bickel isn't positioned where he was to make the save for Lundqvist in game 3, we're down 2-1 in the series.

says who?

first, i think Henrik gets to that puck, second even if he didnt, that would make it a 1-1 game going into OT....who's to say who would win that game?

You forgot to mention: Bickel has won 100% of the faceoffs he's taken.

I love Hank, and odds are he might have made that save based on how god-like he was that game.

BUT Stu is the reason the game didn't get tied there in my mind, when I get past the the game Hank had. He truly made a goalie like save with his arm. Watch the replay, Stu was pretty much already there, Hank was on his way and outstretched. Don't wanna take the chance.

I really like Stu, he sacrifices and throws em for his teammates. I hope he sticks for a while.

I am honestly VERY surprised Torts is not using Bickel more in the playoffs so far. He was getting some minutes towards the end of the regular season and looked fine.

Not sure why people see him only as a 7th defenseman. Down the stretch, he was better than Stralman (whom I also like).

Bickel plays like what he is. A #6 defenseman. He is only 25, so there is upside. This is not Dale Purinton here. He reminds me a lot of Jay Wells, who managed to carve a very nice career for himself. Just like in Boyle's case, where I am not sure of what more people are looking from a 3rd line center, in Bickel's case, I am not sure of what more people are looking for from a 6th defenseman.
