I'm trying to find some stats regarding goals per period league-wide, how many goals have been scored league-wide in every period, and for this year (if possible) and last year for both of 'em. Anyone know where I could find these stats?
Also, what kind of websites do you guys use for 'unusual' statistics?
I've been recording stats all year. If you give me a few minutes, I can get you total goals scored by period (thru games as of yesterday). I can't help you for last year though.

Thanks a ton, man. This year will be good enough I guess. If you could find out how many 1st, 2nd, and 3rd period goals would be great. Goals per period doesn't help me though.
Well, I only have the raw data and not the totals so far. So give me a particular goalie and I'll total him up.
(Note - I'm not going to do this for every goalie because it's too time consuming. But I'll do it for the first couple of requests just to show you what it would look like.)
Mizral-The ESPN site list the goals for each period for each of the teams. They have data for the last three years as well. It isn't the best format..you will get all the teams and the 1st period goals for each team on one page. You have to go back up to 'splits' and pull up the ones for the 2nd and 3rd periods. You have to do some addition, but you can get what you want.

Just for fun, let's compare Giguere and Brodeur so far this season.
Overall SV%
Brodeur: 28 goals on 360 shots = .922
Giguere: 36 goals on 410 shots = .912
SV% in 1st Period
Brodeur: 6 goals on 106 shots = .943
Giguere: 14 goals on 159 shots = .912
SV% in 2nd Period
Brodeur: 8 goals on 129 shots = .938
Giguere: 6 goals on 115 shots = .948
SV% in 3rd Period
Brodeur: 14 goals on 115 shots = .878 (ouch!)
Giguere: 12 goals on 125 shots = .904
SV% in OT
Brodeur: 0 goals on 10 shots = 1.000
Giguere: 4 goals on 11 shots = .636 (ouch!)
Or how about SV% by number of shots faced in a period. This stat shows whether a goalies can be gotten to by just peppering him with a volume of shots.
SV% when facing shots 1 thru 10 in a period
Brodeur: 22 goals on 283 shots = .922
Giguere: 22 goals on 215 shots = .898
SV% when facing shots 11 thru 15 in a period
Brodeur: 6 goals on 77 shots = .922
Giguere: 9 goals on 143 shots = .937
SV% when facing 16 or more shots in a period
Brodeur: has yet to face 16 or more shots in a period
Giguere: 5 goals on 52 shots = .904
Notes: Interesting that Brodeur has an unusually low SV% in the 3rd period but a perfect % in OT. Giguere faces a tremendous amount of shots in the 1st period but rebounds with an excellent % in the 2nd period possibly because the coach gets on his d-men during intermission to help out their goaltender. New Jersey does a great job of keeping shots against down as Brodeur has yet to face more than 15 shots in a period while Giguere has faced that amount numerous times. Bordeur is very consistent whether he's facing shot 5 or shot 15 in a period. Giguere on the other hand peaks on shots 11 thru 15 and tails off as the amount of shots exceed 15.
