With Lilja and Kubina back there on the bottom pairings, we need skating more then we need more size.

I see your point, but I would almost be willing to roll the dice with both Gus and Manning and let one of the oldsters sit. Although, I know Lavy will probably go with experience instead of youth at this point.

I would worry about Gustafsson with how the pens forecheck.

I guess its pick your poison. Slowness and multiple turnovers (lets be honest, the other team is shredding Kubina and Lilja apart) or rookieness and softness. They have to do something about that 3rd pairing or its going to continue to happen.

With the Flyers not having the last change away....putting a player in like Guss is playing Russian roulette but then again Funky Cold Kubina and Lilly boy with his stupid pinches seem to be getting progressively worse like our goaltending. Too bad Bourdon also is janked up b/c a player like Guss and Manning will be muscled into the 3rd row behind the net the way the Pens are now attacking the net...

Gus wouldn't last a second in this series. The Malkin play should be reviewed, but it won't. That was about as blatant a head shot you will see.

I really don't know. They been taking runs at the Flyers heads for the whole series. Its like they are afraid to do anything bad to Malkin or Crosby.

How long did Bourdon last?

An based on what happened to Grossman: knee-to-knee with Vitale and now the concussion, I becomes pretty obvious that size and strength won't shield a player from injury, at least not if the other teams likes to play dirty.

Gus is aware that he is vulnerable and maybe this awareness can be a plus.

Am I missing something? Is it confirmed that Grossmann has a concussion? Because everywhere I've read says he's just day to day and COULD miss the game tomorrow.

Does anyone have definite confirmation that he's concussed and will be out tomorrow?

When was the last time Homer confirmed a concussion during playoffs?

It's mainly Meltzer and Panaccio sharing their thoughts on Twitter.
And of course everyone could see that Grossmann struggled to get back to the bench after the Kennedy hit last night.

well i just hope its like Henrik Sedin was after he was plastered by that Brown hit in game 3. he didnt look getting up along the boards and returned later to the game.
If thats the case they would of held him out for the rest of the game. The game was lost mid to late 2nd period.

Even though nothing is confirmed yet, it's very likely Grossmann is concussed.

With how bad Lilja and Kubina are and nothing special we can insert into the lineup on D, lets say JVR could play tomorrow, would there be any offense players you would throw back on D? (we did this with Kapanen one year correct?)

Where's Matt Walker?

Honest question. I have no earthy idea. And, yes. I know he's awful, but we're getting pretty thin.

Our forwards haven't been playing defense in their current positions, so, no, I don't think you can drop them back.

What does the depth chart look like at this point? Assuming Grossmann and Bourdon can't play. We lost Marshall, right--he's in some other organization? Gus. Matt Walker. Who's left who has seen the ice in the NHL before?

Marshall was traded.

Is Walker even eligible? Pretty positive we sent him down and don't remember seeing his name on the black aces

I don't see how anyone can say that Malkin didn't snap his shoulder up into Grossmann's head on purpose...

hes not getting suspended. it was a dirty elbow but hes done other things and hasnt been suspended. He has pulled slew foots in the playoffs(Ask Ranger fans about that) his actions in the Cup Final a few years ago. Hes a dirty SOB who gets away with it. Malkin knows it too and thats why he can get away with those sneaky, filthy elbows. it sucks. But as someone says it is what it is.

Just got word from a friend that Manning and Gus practiced with the team today and also that Bryz left practice 10 mins into it...replaced by Leighton.

JVR likely.

I'm trying to find out more...

Forgot about him.

So... Coburn and Timonen can play 30 minutes each, right?

Carle, coming off a poor performance, will get more minutes.

Then take three of: Kubina, Lilja, Gus, and Manning?

Not pretty.

The healthiest team wins, and it never seems to be the flyers. The one year the D remained healthy (other than pronger on 1 good leg) we made it to the finals.

Why exactly would we be in deep **** if we lose Bryz? He hasn't done anything for us this post season. He made 1 big save on Letang. Other than that he's been letting in softies left and right.
