No.

Kreider is in the NHL at age 20. After winning two NCAA titles and a gold medal at the WJC.

IF you trade him it's for an established player (Bobby Ryan) not a LESS established player.

No.

No one is untouchable. If we're getting absurd value back like the first overall pick, you do it.

Absolutely correct.

And from the other side, why would the Oilers or Jackets trade a 1st overall for an unestablished player like Kreider. 1st overall picks only get traded for established stars.

Gaborik, prospect not named Kreider, 1st for the 1st overall.

Getting Yakupov while shedding 7.5 mil to sign Parise/Suter = priceless.

I'll add a little more. For once, the Rangers need a homegrown elite offensive talent.

You wouldn't happen to have a n y connection to the Oilers GM would you? Even the slightest to where maybe you can convince him of this?

Poor Kreider. He plays 15 mins of NHL ice time and already he's being traded to Edmonton of all places.

I know the Nordiques actually drafted Lindros, but that is the last time i can remember the 1st overall pick being traded. And that was for Ron Hextall, Steve Duchesne, Kerry Huffman, Mike Ricci, Peter Forsberg, Chris Simon, first round picks in the 1993 and 1994 NHL Entry Drafts and $15 million.

But yeah, maybe Kreider or a combo of Staal & Erixon will move us up.

Yes i know Yakupov isn't considered the generational talent that Lindros was, but still...

Staal + McD + '12 1st + '13 1st + Kreider + Dubi/Stepan/Arty might get it done though.

Go jump off a bridge! With a trade proposal like that we better be getting Malkin and Letang.

Just an unrealistic scenario. Edmonton would never make that trade. NYR would jump on that trade in a heartbeat.

This off season I'd look to move AA and/or Dubi. AA is an enigma, has the skills but is too soft, always knocked around which shouldn't be the case at his size. If he isn't moved he needs to center the 3rd line next season. The only thing saving him is a cap friendly salary. Dubi on the other hand, wildly inconsistent, low hockey iq. 4 million for a grinder who forgot how to grind

No, I would keep Kreider. He has already been developed for 3 years since his draft year. He is just about primed and ready for the NHL. A 6'2 225 pound player who has great wheels who has had success at every level he played do not grow on trees

But but but Kreider is the next Dave Keon...

If the Edm GM was that much of an idiot to accept that proposal, I would pay for Kreiders 1st class seat to Edmonton myself. Pay for his family to go as well.

Kreider will never be as good as Yakupov, Grigorenko, or Galchenyak. These 3 will most like be in the NHL within a year, while Kreider is in his 4th year of development. Remember, big players take like 3-5 years of NHL play to finally breakout if ever!!

Disagree. If the first overall was a tentative pick where all likely candidates were not going to make an immediate NHL impact then I would say you have a case to be made. Yakupov will be in the NHL next year and will be competing with Kreider for the calder. I'm not saying Yakupov will be better now, or ever, but it's certainly a trade you make. I will eat crow if I am wrong.

I go to the real world to pay the rent and when I come back, all kinds of insanity has broken loose.....

Kreider going nowhere, we shouldn't trade him unless established uber elite (Malkin, Stamkos) is involved.

When we know Kreider's ceiling, it is fair game to put him like anyone else in proposals, until then we don't know how much we are giving up.

Kreider skating on par with sniper talent of Yakupov.
Similar quality but different.

Do not want to trade coke for pepsi.

That will have to do for now....
