Absolutely a must win. You do not want to give Ottawa's young team 2 chances to close us out (one in Ottawa, no less) and all the momentum they'll have if they beat us at home in #5. They've been dominating in terms of puck possession and we've looked out worked for the better parts of the last two games. I think we need to come out and win game 5, and win it in a convincing manner to get a confidence boost and break Ottawa's momentum. If game 5 is another nail biter where Ottawa plays 40 minutes in our end, even if we win, game 6 is going to be very difficult. Not that I expect game 6 to be easy if we come out and win convincingly in game 5, but we'll have confidence and have broken their momentum, and we'll still have two chances to close them out.

If we win Game 5 we will have about a 75% chance of advancing. If we lose game 5 we will have about a 25% chance of advancing.

Not that complicated.

Not technically a must win, but in reality, it is.

Lets hope 20% of the team isnt looking at sarurdays game like it isnt a must win like the 20% here or we czn count on a first round exit.

Thankfully torts will make sure every player knows its a must win game.

A must win for Rangers. And they will. But Ottawa will force a game 7, you watch. Only way that isn't the case is if Andersson completely **** the bed. I think he already let in at least 2 suspect opening goals in MSG in games 1 and 2.

I think the Rangers will realize what a fortunate position they are still in at the drivers seat.

They could and arguably should have been coming back to NY Saturday night trying to staving off elimination down 3-1 after their 2 games in Ottawa. They will take advantage of the situation.

Maybe a second poll should be taken asking the following question:

Will Saturday nights game be the last home game of the season for the NY Rangers?

Thanks for your responses. I understand the question on its face may seem silly/hyperbolic but this team is definitely prone to momentum swings. A positive result would do so much towards getting the team mentally over the hump. It seems like a lot of you agree that it's a big deal

Personally I think whoever says this game isn't a must win is out of their minds. Losing this game isn't an automatic death sentence, but there are Rangers fans who will still feel good about our chances if our first seeded team goes down 3-2 to the eighth seed, heading back to Ottawa, after dropping two straight, including a big game at home?

This is absolutely a must win. Putting the ball that firmly in Ottawa's court is like playing with a nuclear bomb. There's a 99% chance it's going to blow up in your face.

Game 5 is not a must-win. Why? Because we can lose this one without being out of the play offs.

Not a must win, no. I honestly don't feel like this team has fragile confidence right now. We have won every statement game that we played this year. Even if we lose game 5, there is no reason to think we can't rattle off two in a row against the Chris Neil's and Matt Carkners of the world.

No reason other than the fact that we've shown a complete inability to win two in a row already in the series and that was without giving Ottawa not one, but two chances to end our season. No even if we go down 3-2 in the series there's NO reason to believe we can't beat these scrubs twice in a row.

Right... If only elimination games were 'must win' then the phrase must win wouldn't exist because it would be common sense.

The way that things have panned out, I believe that who ever wins game 5 will win this series.

Absolutely in my opinion, in terms of what it means for momentum.

Drop game 5 at home and winning the series is a ridiculously hard task.

must win= there becomes 0% or close to 0% chance of reaching intended goal without a win.

Not true in this case. Not a must win.

Do I feel like tomorrow's game is extremely important to win? yes. Must win? no. We are the #1 seed in the east for a reason. All of you have lost confidence in this team way to early. Let's wait and see what they bring to the table tomorrow.

Apparently the team doesn't think so since they're playin like ass in practice and Torts had to stop them a couple of times.

Comical considering only two weeks ago he was stopping them because they might "hurt each other."

Yeah Torts, they were ready. Haha
