The point is the only place for a d-man. PK COULD be used somewhere other than the halfboards.

I know I don't need to explain such things to you and I also am very disappointed in PK but that is not what the original topic was.

i don't disagree that Zids shouldn't be on the point. I think he's best used in the mid left slot, where he can make the cross-ice pass(only Sully does it better) or get his laser shot on net. But therein lies the problem. We have all these guys who are great down low, but no one can effectively work the point. Zids and Hamhuis have trouble holding the point...I guess we could try Weber. Timonen has stepped back a bit this year, but still does it pretty well...if he could only keep his shot on net.

I sometimes wonder if we'd be well-served to just...flat-out try a new power play formation.

That idea I like.

Some veriant of the umbrella or who knows but constantly jamming a square peg into a round hole really doesn't work.

He does. Going into the season he leads the Preds in OT goals (4...well, now 5), assists (5), and points (9...now 10).

And just for fun, going into the season he leads the Preds in all time game winning goals with 15 (now it's 19, and 4 of his 6 goals this season are GW's.).

He was asked what was the feeling like in the locker room coming up on the trade deadline.......he responded that they were all [I assume that he meant the young guys] nervous that they would be the one traded [for Witt], and how that they all loved it here in Nashville and didn't want to leave.......I wonder if the feeling that the organization wanted each one of them, helped them individually relax and play at the top of their game last night......
This is the stuff you like to hear about our team.
