Thats exactly my thought. Eveen if you take out 3/4 of the guys it is still the best in atleast like 3-4 years.
It doesn't even have to be a top 2 pick I'm just throwing a few players out there, with the speculation on next years draft I would much rather have a another top 10 pick next season then a top 6 pick this season.

I think you mean replacing our enforcer. Otherwise, you'd be looking at a 4th line of Parros-Konopka-McGrattan, which is just all kinds of ugly.

How about you root we make the playoffs? Is that so hard to ask for.

Even as much as i like fighting i would not want that 4th line
Beleskey is fine with Z and an enforcer

I think you are reading words that aren't there. Konopka would be a great fourth line center addition. You can't call him an enforcer, which I didn't, but you also can't say he doesn't not fight. I don't believe we need a real enforcer if Brookbank and Beleskey are going to be in the lineup, plus if Konopka was in there of course.... Anyways, we didn't see Parros play much until games that didn't matter. BB isn't a fan of dressing a full time enforcer. We should have plenty of grit in the lineup that can fight when needed, but we don't need to have a Parros or McGrattan (given McGrattan is a better all around player).

Why because I have an opinion you don't agree with and my ideas of change are different from yours???

I root for the playoffs but to try and
Improve our team to MAKE it their first is a priority. Yes my ideas are unorthodox to say the least....
But to look at our team at all angles is something we need to look at.

Maybe BM wants to wait until the end of the playoffs and consider all potential UFAs available before signing Brookbank or anyone? Or maybe BM is contemplating letting him walk and giving the job to another young kid from Syracuse? Or maybe BM is considering a trade?

And maybe the best reason of all...perhaps he is too busy trying to put together deals for Perry and Getz to worry about Brookbank right now?

There is no reason he needs to rush into signing a guy of Brookbank's level this early in the off season.

Because a player like Brookbank is easily replaceable as a #6 dman. I'd like to see Brookbank re-signed, but I'm not going to lose sleep whether or not we do.

Brookbank had a career year and will find a team that will pay him handsomely and give him a bigger role. My guess is Winnipeg so he can be reunited with the guy who coached him during his best season as a pro and be closer to home. We need that spot to ease in a young guy like Schultz or Clark.

I agree with Quacks and Joe. He will probably get a higher offer than Ducks want to pay and his skill set as a #6 can be replaced.

No doubt Brookbank is replaceable, but the problem is - he added one thing this team really lacked this season - a grit. He is no Niedermayer but he can skate and join the offense in times. Thats a good set for 6th defensman.

No Parros, no Brookbank - so that leaves Beleskey "our" grit?

Should probably wait to see who we replace these players with first.

Well, thats the most worrying part. At least we know what Brookbank brings us and what he is capable of.
To go fish in UFA market with our GM is too much risk.

For all we know Brookbank could be looking for 1.5m or something crazy like that. It's hard to judge at this stage, there is no need to rush in and re-sign a guy like Brookbank with still so long left in the season and the role he plays.

Though as I said, I do hope we re-sign him, though as long as it's a reasonable price. I'd be fine with someone like Guenin stepping in if Brookbank is wanting too much as there isn't all that much difference between them.

If we get rid of Lydman, I wouldn't be against trying to acquiring Carle.

If that's really what there's available (and half of those will sign for their home team), we'll seriously be looking a trades as a way to get a new 2C

This board has become loaded with younger New NHL soft Detroit loving fans of course to them Beleskey is enough.
In the Burke days those same posters where probably fans of other teams or they just forgot that having toughness and enforcers not only makes the games more watchable but also helped some of the success

LOL at Beleskey and Brookbank being enough are you watching the same team i am? The team is lifeless half the time more so since BB took over with his boring style. One thing i can pretty much guarantee is that the Ducks had a better record with Parros in the lineup than without

I'm not going to take part in this argument, but I just wanted to confirm this.

23 - 16 - 7 (.576P%) with Parros
11 - 20 - 5 (.375P%) without Parros
