Terrible news. He's probably faking it though.

You never know, we don't know how he's looked in practice and with Alfie and Winchester maybe injured, you never know. Ian Mendes tweeted that he was huge out there and didn't look out of place at all, it's only practice but Stone is a big body and again we never know... Butler has been good game 3, so-so game 4, seriously Stone can't be worse than Butler tough

They could even leave Butler in and have a choice between Daug, Klink, and Stone to replace Winnie

I'm sure they have a few options, he's just one of them. Will probably decide tomorrow.

Where do we see that Stone traveled with the team? How about Hoffman?

I could see Paulrus dressing Stone as a net presence on the powerplay and maybe taking a couple of 4th line shifts in the first period. I doubt it though.

Explain why hoffman took the warmup wednesday and not stone, then?
More familiar with the system given he was called up and played earlier in the year. Stone hasn't had much time to practice PM's game. Now that he will get a full practice in today and a practice tomorrow he'll have had more exposure to the system and feel somewhat more comfortable than he would have on Wednesday.

Personally I'm all for Stone playing tomorrow. The kid has hands, he's physically ready for the show, and he reminds me so much of Dany Heatley (sans the attitude). Some players transition from junior to NHL with no problems and some it takes 2 or 3 years. Just because Stone hasn't played professionally doesn't mean he can't. Look at Cowen last year. He stepped right into Bingo from junior and was one of their best dman. Better than players who had been playing there all year. I'm not saying Stone is going to transition into a leader for the Sens, but I think he will have as good as or better an impact than Hoffman. But we'll see tomorrow what happens of course.

I'm going early tomorrow for warmups, so I can at least see Stone, if he doesn't play.

Stone is a big kid and considering how PP has been struggling I could see McLean using him on the PP a bit and an odd shift with Spez and MM

Ya if he does get in I'd almost prefer him with Spez and MM. That Foligno/Turris/Butler line has been consistent the last two games. Probably one of our best lines. Drop Greening down with Smith and Neil and you have one bad ass bruiser line.

Why is it so nuts to play Mark Stone?

NYR played Kreider the other day. I think that was his first NHL game.

pfft. They're playing at MSG. Everybody will be slow.

Anyway, apparently, his skating is now 'average' or better, so there's hope.

Maybe they will surprse the Rangers with a new prospect every game.
Keep them guessing.

Stone didn't look out of place playing with 2 speedsters in the WJC therefore I doubt it will be an issue for him. I live out west so I have seen him a handful of times in real life and on TV. From the first time I saw him back in Oct. 2010 to now there is a massive difference. He won't blind you with speed he's just average. It isn't bad enough to hold him back any more. We all shouldn't forget Heatley wasn't a gazelle either. He utilized positioning, size and hands. All of which Stone has. If he can get open and get off a few shots with his quick release, he's got a good shot at being effective.

My money is on Hoffman as well.
