At some point Rinne will have to have a bad game, hopefully it's today!

Maybe that's what Trotz drew up for them, but it's a curious plan if accurate. They're a team that can bang on the opposition's F and D, so it's surprising to me that they wouldn't want to try to wear down the Wings, esp since our roster can't really respond in kind.

I don't agree with that at all. Every year people seem to make this assumption but we outhit our opposition often, even in "high hitting" series. E, Kronner, Stuart, Franzen (when he tries), Dats, Abby, Cleary... the list goes on. When they are playing with passion against a team that's hitting... they can give it right back.

Radulov is tied for 1st in scoring in the series along with our best player in Datsyuk.

Also Nashville has never been a physical team, they finished the season 3rd last in the NHL in hits.

The difference in this series has been defensive miscues on the Wings part and a great job by Nashville converting on their scoring chances. It hasn't hurt that Rinne has been stellar in all by one game as well.

And I disagree with your disagreement. I know that this is a touchy topic for some Wings fans who feel that our team is as physical as any other team, but I don't see it that way. We only have a few guys who consistently bring physicality to every game (I'd go w/ Stuart, Abby, Helm, maybe a few others), and IMO, the other guys you listed pick their spots. Kronwall's hitting reminds me of Rob Deer for the early '90's Tigers- Deer was an all-or-nothing hitter who'd go yard once every few games, and strike out the rest of the time- Kronwall catches somebody once every 3-5 games coming out of his own zone w/ his head down, and the other games (and in his own zone) he does virtually no hitting.

I'm of the belief that our top 6 rarely puts much physical stress on the opposition's top D-men, and our top D pairing hasn't really physically worn down the opponent's top line. I'm hoping over time that our lineup gets more physicality injected into it. IMO, most of the other series going on right have a level of intense physicality that the Wings don't bring to the ice.

I think Radulov being tied for the series scoring lead is more a commentary on how little scoring has happened in the series, as opposed to how well he's played, b/c he's seemed out of sync most of the time.

Surprised that Nashville was 3rd to last in hits, b/c they typically are a gritty team that tries to outwork the opposition b/c they usually don't have the offensive talent to match up. I think their team identity over the past 10 years or so is being a physical, conservative team. They'd have a few more hits if they played Tootoo, but if he does suit up, I don't want it to be in Nashville where they blow those stupid whistles.

The wings are a hard team to close out, so i expect a 60 minute effort. And when this team plays 60 minutes i never bet against them

Wings 3 - Flip, Lids, Cleary(en)

Preds 1 - Suter

Personally, history has taught me that the Wings will always tease us right down to the end. That's why I think they'll win big tonight. And then fall on their faces in game 6.

You only have to go back one year to find a reason for optimism. Zetterberg is playing better than he was last year, and the Sharks were probably a more dangerous team than Nashville, and the Wings have only played 4 playoff games so far.

Plenty of veteran teams have weathered a 3-1 storm in sports history.

Sharks play worse defense than nashville, sharks have a worse goalie.......

detroit has always been bad against excellent defensive teams with vezina goalies.

3 years since our last trip to the finals and 4 since our last cup.

Our Playoff record in the 6 years since the Cap is better than it was the 6 years before the cap...but don't let reality get in the way of your doom and gloom.

Parity has become greater and greater for every season since 05/06...It's a lot different than 2008.
