Yeah we all thought the '03 Ducks and '06 Oilers were piece of crap teams who just got lucky, and they both went and took the Finals to game 7. I remember Rucchin even admitted in the postgame ind '03 that they weren't the better team but hey, they still won. You never know.

I kinda want the Preds to get swept in round 2. That would make this look even worse for the Wings. Might marginally increase the chances that they fix things.

edit- '03, not '01...

People saying the Preds got lucky need to wake the hell up. They didn't get lucky. Stop counting just shots on net and start watching the game.

Preds were hard on the forecheck, shut Datsyuk's line down completely. The third/fourth lines were about even. Their cycle was better by miles. They forced lots of turnovers. Blocked a ton of shots.

The Wings on the other hand, were sloppy. Bad passes, whiffs on shots all day long. PP was ridiculously sad, as it has been all year. Yeah, they got a couple goals. Go back and look at them. They are scored off broken plays, not sustained pressure and good crisp passing like the Wings used to have only 3-4 years ago. We used to make the other team look like pylons. Now it's the same old "retrieve puck. dump to point. stand still waiting for point shot. repeat." Guess what, that **** doesn't work. It hasn't worked for a few years now.

Wings need to seriously reconsider their game plan. They have plenty of talent, but they need to add some more. And they need a new PP strategy. Like whoa.

I can't believe Babcock did not want to change anything before it was too late.

This team is majorly stale. Needs serious changes.

But re-signing Bertuzzi for 2 years suggests things won't change.

I thought Quincey wasn't that bad... Had that awful giveaway, but he actually threw some quality hits and rebounded from that "nicely?"

Pretty much, though I don't think it will be more of the same next year. While I'm not looking forward to guys retiring or signing elsewhere, there's potential for a pretty significant change in this club regardless of anything else happening. It'll be interesting to see what Holland does.

Lost the series because of goaltending and a lack of good quality shots. Detroit was better at multiple times but couldn't beat Rinne IMO. Preds are a good team and I'm not too sure if any other teams are going to be able to score more then Detroit did. I can see them riding Rinne deep.

I thought Quincey put together a decent series, too.

I don't think goaltending was the big issue. Our defense gave up one brain-fart goal each game and four times that goal was the difference.

Of all the players in this series, Quincey was among the least responsible for the loss.

I can't think of any Wing he stood out to me that series (in a good way) other than maybe Zetterberg.

Even though I think we outplayed them in Game 4, the Preds for the most part outworked, hustled, etc us. They just wanted it more. Tonight was by far our worst performance of the series.

Hopefully that wasn't Lids' last game.

I was fine with Quincey's play. Couple mistakes. But he's gonna be back next year and could be a solid d-man for the Wings the next couple years.

So were alot of players that posters are blaming. I just don't like the guy. There's something about him.

Quincey wasn't great, but he wasn't terrible. He had a few glaring mistakes and brain farts, but for the most part played solid.

Stuart, on the hand, played the worst hockey of his career (as a Red Wing). Even on the backcheck tonight that Redmond/Daniels were praising him for, the only reason he had to make it was because he made a terrible play to get beat in the first place. And on their 2nd goal tonight - again a terrible play by Stuart.

I think Gus did well, considering he was stepping in with so little pro experience. Also, Emmerton answered the call and did well. Ericsson and Q were good for us. Miller impressed me. No offense to speak of, but solid, gritty play. Cleary didn't put up the points, but his skating was back and he consistently took the body.

We didn't do much great in this series, but there were a few bright spots. I have to think just the experience of playoff hockey was good for Gus and Emmerton.
