Cautionary Dream

Just awoke from a scary dream - a cautionary tale. End of the first period, down 3-0. Announcers talking about "scoring the next goal to get right back in it..." and I wake up -

My thoughts: Play with purpose tonight. Draw first blood - early hits, early PP, early goal. Feed off the energy of what will be a fever pitch MSG crowd.

Gentlemen, we're going to find out who not only "wants it more" - but who is equipped to step up and define their legacy with action.

In watching the playoffs, nearly every game is decided by a single shift, a single stride. The margin for error is so slight - a single error changes the complexion of the game unlike any other sport. There is no reset, no line of scrimmage, no pitcher's mound. This game is in real time, one bad bounce and the game drastically changes. We have to put ourselves in an optimal position to get that "good bounce" - play harder, generate more quality scoring chances, limit mistakes - and leave the rest up to the hockey gods.

Seize the moment. We're going to do it tonight - I just hope with a bit more ease than my prediction:

Rangers 2-1, in overtime

Richards and Gaborik also have three points...

However, Gaborik's one goal in four playoff games is unacceptable. 7+ million for two goals and two disappearing acts in nine playoff games as a Ranger...unacceptable.

excited to see Kreider skating the Garden Ice with a packed out house in front of him. hopefully he gets a little more ice time tonight.

but whatever happens, DON'T STOP PLAYING THE GAME. can't just sit back and let them take shots because our D is stellar and our goalie is a God. play this #therightway boys. LGR!

I like them. Don't force Kreider, see if either of the top two lines from early season have anything left.

Up way too early on a Saturday. Got a giant to-do list before the game tonight. I'll be on pins and needles the entire time until just before puck drop when I open that first beer. Maybe we'll have Doc for the play by play and I can revisit the "Doc Emrick drinking game" we all created a few weeks ago....

Can't hurt trying.

He needs to use all four lines however.

I'm not saying it's a must win,

BUT IT'S A MUST WIN!

Looking at Gaborik, Richards, Dubinsky, Stepan and Anisimov for some goals in this game. This group of 5 really needs to step up.

They should keep richie together with gaborik. They've done more in 10 games together than riche has done in 30 with dubi.

IMO they should at least give kreider a test run with dubinsky/callahan. It couldn't hurt any more than playing with mitchell and rupp.

I believe we are seeing how voluble Hagelin is to this team.

I can't wait for him to get back in the lineup.

Win tonight, get the 3-2 series lead, Hagelin comes back in game 6 and we can get that top line back together.

Pivotal game, definitely don't want to go down 3-2 and heading to Ottawa.

Been a frustrating series so far, no doubt about that.

Let's take care of business on home ice and give ourselves 2 opportunities to close this baby out.

LGR

You gotta win this. If they take it in your house, it's a humaaaangous momentum swing. Just get this one through and see what happens in Ottawa.

Jesus. I'm a lush and I wouldn't make it through the first period...

Does when he make a corny joke count at all that makes Pierre do his "haw haw" count?
