To the posters *****ing about 25 games for Torres. You seem to be missing the biggest factor. His status as a multiple repeat offender.

Comparing his hit on its own to other players hits is fairly pointless in this context. He isn't getting 25gms for just that hit.

Inconsistency is the problem. Sure Torres has a history of dirty hits. But Carkner had a history of jumping people, but that didn't seem to matter. The problem is that there is neither consistency or a standard for which a player could expect to know what punishment will follow what hit. Not to mention the absurd bias for star players vs role players. It makes the league look like a joke to the rest of the world.

It only matters if it led to supplimental discipline by the league. If it hasn't led to suspensions then its irrelevant to the Torres situation.

Yep. No consistency at all. Shaw gets 3 games, Asham gets 4 games, neither of them are previous offenders. Neal, a previous offender gets one game because he's a star player. Shanahan fails.

Torres has a history of hits to the head and has received supplemental discipline five times over the past five seasons, including twice this season alone.
He's also had multiple borderline hits, including the hit on Seabrook last playoffs.
He obviously has not learned that he's in violation of the rules and is a predatory player.
This hit was nearly a second late (.8, anything > .5 is considered to be late), he leaves his feet, there's contact with the head, and he intends to injure Hossa, as he is aware of the fact that he isn't making a play on the puck.

Giving him the maximum amount of games that the Coyotes could play in the playoffs is just fine with me.
He deserves to be out of the league, IMO.
Couldn't have said it better!!

It's a statement to Torres, not the rest of the NHL. Change your **** or get kicked out of the league. It was the same thing that happened to Matt Cooke.

But it comes off that way.

Consistent inconsistency is consistent. I'm leaning more towards right call among a pile of bad calls but I'm honestly not sure. 25 is super stiff.

Washington is far from a tough team--mentally or physically--and they're one win from beating the big, bad Bruins. One of the few teams softer than we are (Montreal) took them to the brink last year in the 1st round.

They really miss Horton. He scored huge goals for them last year.

I'll take it a step further and say that if Torres does this again, he should be banned from the NHL.

Enough is enough.

Mike Milbury just now about the consistency of playoff refereeing, "Jonesy, you're just being a dick about this."

I hate the teams in Sens-Rags as much as I hate the Pens-Flyers. I hope both series go seven and the teams kick the crap out of each other.

Awards:
Watching the Sens hold the Rangers' offense to such meager totals makes one wonder how the Sabres would have fared given how they held the Rangers in check pretty much all season....

Holy crap the Panthers were hemmed in their own zone and finally get it out, chip it down the ice, Brodeur goes to play it and gets beat and scored on. What a turn.
