Don't see why folks are complaining about their actual play.
Anderson is stealing this game for Ottawa. It's frustrating, yeah, but they're playing very well right now. Of course, it's all for naught if they can't finish.
Looks like it's down to two things, pretty simply put...
1) lack of offensive talent, and the little that we do have just aren't showing up. that has to get addressed in terms of the roster during the offseason. maybe it's just time to move on from some homegrown guys who just aren't gonna reach their potential.
2) this team changed their style of play and their identity going into the playoffs, and that's on Torts. We were the top fighting team in the league, not bc we looked to fight, but bc we fought when it was necessary for momentum or to send a message; that has stopped cold turkey. We would block almost every shot and hustle to forecheck and hit, and generally always play a gritty, in-your-face style, while being as clean as you can with that style. 4 lines rolling at least somewhat, and not depending so heavily on a small handful of players, and even though the lesser players sometimes struggled, it kept the team more balanced. Almost all of that identity has gone out the window.
Watching this team tonight, I don't see nearly any offensive talent, and I don't even see the NYR identity that we all came to love through this season. Both need to get addressed ASAP if this team will go anywhere with this core of players.
what baffles me is that they are willing to give up a year of Kreider's ELC but they won't play him. Put him out there in Dubinsky's place and see what happens. It just might piss off Duby enough that they get something out of him. Or maybe Kreider can work some magic

Read my post on page three as a response to this...

Agree.
Conservative is the new proactive...
Makes no damn sense.
Let the kid do something. He's dressed, put him on the damn ice.
What kind? Wish I had some whiskey in the house. I could use something a little stronger.
Honey jack. It's definitely my new jam. A little sweet, but I always put a little water in the glass to cut the sweetness a bit, and today I tried adding a twist of lime to for a little sour. It's awesome.
