maybe its kovalev but since huet took over the #1 job hes been 4-1-1-1 with a 1.69 GAA and a .944 svpct. the team numbers dropped from
a team 3.29 gaa and .891 svpct to a 3.11 gaa and a .896 svpct.
I'm certain if you break down the stats you will find that during the losing streak there was less scoring by most individual players and the goaltending was worse. That's why there was a losing streak!
As many have already pointed out, when your best players like Kovalev are producing, the team wins. Hence the losing streak is over.
This is about as direct a correlation you will get. Key players score more, team wins, they score less, team loses.
so you're blaming Kovy for losing all those games? lol. yeaaaa... righttttt..
It's not a question of blaming him. It's a matter of showing how a player's success affects the team's success.
In this case, when Kovalev is playing well, the team seems to play well. When he's not on, the team doesn't have success. It has nothing to with blaming him for losses.
It's a collective effort, but it is interesting nonetheless to see how Kovalev's play can relate to the teams W/L column.
