Torres is one of the dirtiest players in the damn league he's been fined/suspended 5 other times for similar hits, i wish shanny would just do these things with consistency
what a ****ing disgrace. There's no fairness in how the league deals with it's teams and players. They aren't even trying to maintain the appearance of being impartial with these rulings.
The lesson is as clear as it's even been, certain teams and players are favored - everyone else better watch the **** out.

Are you implying that the league is "out to get" the team it currently owns, the Phoenix Coyotes?
Most conspiracy theorists around here usually had it backwards, and this verdict nullifies that completely.
I think regardless of the team Torres plays for (and, surprise surprise, a problem child like him has played for several), habitual reoffenders who don't learn from prior disciplinary measures, leave themselves open to stiff punishment like this.

Again, great call by Shanny and I back this 100%.
I don't think that's what he meant.
When a guy like Neal gets 1 game for two separate hits that could command 2 games each, and then Torres gets 25 "to send a message", it isn't really all that fair.

While neal does have a history, nobody was injured which has been established as a major contributing factor in suspension length, and torres has made 5! similar illegal hits to the head, if some one is repeatedly doing this they have to be suspended for a long time

I don't know about favored teams, but it's safe to say that star players- regardless of being repeat offenders- are not dealt so severely unlike "Nimrods" like Torres, Cooke, Gillies, etc. A POS like Malkin will always get away with slew-foots, elbows, etc. because he is a star player and a money-generator.
I do agree with this decision, but as long as big-money runs the league there will be bias against these scabs, as opposed to star-players, for similar offenses. If it were someone else in-charge of discipline, he is not going to be behave any more consistently or differently than Shanahan has.
Historically, teams who win the championship usually have at least one quick series. So far in the West we have St. Louis and Nashville taking care of business against some talented competition both in five games. Los Angeles can join them if they can finish off Vancouver in their next game.
I'm hoping for a Nashville/St. Louis WCF, and I like either team's chances of winning it all. The East seems to be really battling it out and that could have a cumulative effect on things when it comes time for the SCF. Interesting times for sure.
