Our scouting department sees Elliott + Siemens as our 2nd pairing for the future. Actually Barrie has been a lot more solid defensively so far in his NHL games and will probably be more ready to step in next year.

Elliott needs another year in the AHL playing with Siemens but that's fine because we have Wilson & O'Brien or Gaunce for our bottom pair.

It would have to be something else besides Elliott or Siemens. Maybe..

O'Reilly + Barrie + 3rd

For

Kesler + 2nd

Assuming Staal, Hagelin, McDonagh and Callahan are non-starters. I will admit I don't watch the Rangers a lot so my valuation could be off. Tanev projects to a top-4 stay at home dman, I would say like Hjalmarsson.
Hah no. Never want to see that diver on the Rangers.

Kesler played well into June last year, had surgery that prevented him from workinmg out and had no training camp.

He's not the guy you trade right now.

that takes every ufa off of the table. What about Kesler for Zajac? Or is he pushing the age limit?
Honestly, as the defending President trophy winners, the Canucks would probably be cup favorites against next year without making any changes.

Fans are just overracting to losing a series despite the team outplaying the Kings in 3 of the first 4 games of the series. It happens.

To Anaheim:

Kesler.

To Vancouver:

Ryan.

To Tampa Bay:

Luongo.

To Vancouver:

Ryan Malone.

To Pittsburgh:

Booth, 1st round pick

To Vancouver:

Staal.

Sedin - Sedin - Burrows
Malone - Staal - Ryan

I would prefer Glencross over Malone, but don't know what Flames would want from us.

Honestly, not opposed. I think if you could get a top-pairing RHS dman to play with Ballard or Hamhuis, your top 4 would be equally if not improved over the current configuration.

How about this:

To VAN:

Derek Roy
Nashville 2012 First
Calgary 2012 Second
Jonas Enroth

To Buffalo:

Kesler
2012 4th

This gives Vancouver Roy to center their second line for next year at a good price (4 mil), and he would probably not be too hard to sell on a resign to a team like vancouver who will probably contend for a cup until the sedins start to decline to second line talents (around 35ish), it also gives them an extra first and second round pick, and a young talented goaltender to back up schneider, freeing the nucks to deal louongo and no worry about their backup situation.

Unfortunately I think this is an example of a trade you don't make when dealing Kesler. The Sabres get the clear-cut best player and the Canucks get a sum of the parts, which has burned the Flames and Bruins in the Phaneuf and Thornton deals. I guess you could also lump the Bure and Jagr trades in there as well.

Staying with the Sabres, I'd be looking at something closer to the Mogilny or Peca deals: A star player in his prime for young players with high ceilings as the centrepiece, and the roster players being complementary.

For Kesler, I think it starts with Ennis+Adam, essentially the Peca trade.

What about Green + Johansson for Kesler?

Green slots in with Hamhuis, Bieksa can play with Edler on the 2nd pairing and and Johansson can fill the void of Kesler to some extent next season with more room to improve.

I'd be all over this. I love Johansson's game and Green is still a premier player in the NHL. I think Canucks might have to add, but I'd do it to get these Caps.

Sedin-Sedin-Burrows
Clowe-Stepan-Booth
Higgins-Lapierre-Hansen
Bitz*-Malholtra-Kassian

Edler-Girardi
Hamhuis-Bieksa
Ballard-Salo

Luongo

The defense is very improved over this season, as Girardi is arguably the 2nd best defenseman on the team and at least on paper, complements Edler very well. You also re-stock the farm trading Schneider for a blue-chip prospect.

The offense is sideways or slightly down with Clowe/Stepan able to put up the roughly 110 pts combined you'd expect from Kesler/Raymond, but the improvement on D is worth it.

....
Again, DONE DEAL.
Kesler is the primary target here for NY, so pls give inside dirt on Tanev. Thnx.

Vancouver's top defensemen prospect. 22yo. Currently third pairing puck moving defensemen, safe to assume he projects as a top 4 down the road. Always makes the smart play. Not too big and not very physical but always willing to take a hit to make a play. What he lacks in size and strength, he makes up with incredible hockey sense.

I'm positive the reason that the OP says Kesler "must go" is because of a recent radio interview. I hate to break it to you dude, but that was Kevin Bieksa as Ryan Kesler. Guys not a must move, a fan favorite, and won't be moved just because.

I, with no hesitation, say that is all crap coming Vancouvers way. Kulemin is the only thing remotely redeeming, and he is a slightly bigger Raymond.

Kulemin is the least appealing of this package...
