Kreider and Hags together for game 6?

Rangers Report ‏ @rangersreport Reply Retweet Favorite · Open
Hagelin talking to Kreider. They're working together during drills. Hagelin's skating hard this afternoon.

Now I know it isn't a full practice, only 12 guys are there with Biron, and Torts isn't even on the ice, but they're working together. Maybe I'm looking into it too much.

Torts also had this to say about Kreider yesterday in the post game presser:

“I see him maybe getting more minutes as some guys just simply haven’t done the job. We are at the situation now where if you are young, old or medium aged, you are going to play if you are playing well.”

I think there is a 99% chance that Hags, Richie, and Gabs go back together, but you never know with Torts.

I don't know. That line might be a bit too slow imo.

Torts missed the boat last night. Dubinksy was awful but he kept him with Richards and Callahan for the majority of the night.

Richards/Callahan/Kreider was a no ****ing brainer. Not giving much up on the defensive side and you have two good skaters that can chase.

Why dont we just go back to what was working before the playoffs and what won us game 1?

Gaborik, Kreider, and Hagelin would give teams nightmares... Too bad none of them are centers.

Why would we want Fedotenko on the first line?

Those two will make Stepan look like a turtle.

Torts would be better off reuniting Hagelin-Richards-Gaborik.

I am really excited about having Hagelin back. Gives me a TON of confidence about game 6. Give Kreider more ice time and I think we have some great chances.

I wouldn't. Torts would. He's played him there earlier this season. Richards and Fedotenko have some sort of chemistry because of '04.

Fedotenko-Richards-Gaborik
Dubinsky-Anisimov-Callahan
Hagelin-Stepan-Kreider
Rupp-Mitchell-Prust

Kreider's speed would be most ridiculously exploited at C, and Hagelin is fast enough to keep up with him.

In this construct where offensive pressure is paramount, I would try it, but not waste that unit with Stepan.

Our best chance is:

Hagelin--Kreider - Callahan
Anisimov-Richards-Gaborik
Fedotenko-Dubinsky-Prust
Scott-Rupp-Stepan

This give us
line 1: comfort of Hags + Cally very fast w/Kreider pushing it even further, if CK shows scoring touch this early an unexpected plus, but realistic to expect he would maximize opportunities for Hags and Cally, similar bookends who have demonstrated some scoring ability.

line 2: Keeps Rich + Gabo, hoping they have a big game; improves on Feds with AA

line 3 Hard working line relatively close in speed and style

line 4 a lefty lefty righty combo complementary on wings, grinding, Scott will be a handful plus along the boards, Rupp w/help from Stepan, who needs to fill out, setting up each other to score. Good checking line if not vs, their fastest.

Too bad Kreider is not a center. You really want to throw a kid who has played only 2 NHL games into a position that he doesn't play? Switching wings is one thing, but putting him at center is just stupid.

i expect hagelin and kreider to be talking because torts wants kreider to construct his play like hagelin's play....and taking drills together maybe a more of a monkey see monkey do thing....

but i would not be surprised if they were on the same line at times during the game tomorrow and man that would be a fast exciting line

Based off of what? He has 3 NHL games under his belt. This isn't NHL 12 where you just throw in any ol' line combos.

Hagelin has played some center.

But he wouldn't be able to play nearly the same kind of game in that position.

I'd rather see...

Hagelin-Richards-Gaborik
Dubinsky-Stepan-Callahan
Fedotenko-Anisimov-Prust
Kreider-Mitchell-Rupp

I'm not supporting it lol. Just stating that Torts has done it before, so I wouldn't be surprised. Feds is slow as **** though and don't want him any where near the top line.
