Not even everyone going through Fleury's fivehole during the handshake line was a surprise!

That can get us a cup.
You'd have to break up Grossmann and Coburn I think.

I do not trust a timonen-Carle pairing and Mez is too prone to positional lapses to pair him with Gus. I think you have to put Gus with Coburn. How about this?

Coburn-Gustafason
Timonen-Meszaros
Grossmann-Carle

I don't think we can tip toe around it anymore.

Claude Giroux is the captain of this team.

If you think about it, it's crazy how well we did against such an offense with SO MANY d-men injured. Getting Mez and Grossmann back would make things WAY better too. If they came back, I hope Gus replaces Lilja.

Kimmo and Carle are fine together. How can you break up our top shutdown pair in Coburn and Grossman? I don't think you break that up.

Yeah, with Pronger and Mez in the fold there wouldn't be alot of doubt in me that this would be the year.

Carle - Pronger
Timonen - Coburn
Grossmann - Mez

Unbelieveable.

Gotta add that Lilja has looked terrific in the playoffs so far.
Very very steady.

If Pronger can't go next season, I predict we will see an official recognition of Giroux as captain. I like that we didn't rush to give away the C when Pronger went down. Timonen and Briere should keep the As.

Because if Mez comes back and you're replacing kubina and Lilja with Mez and Gus, you can't have them on a paring together. Mez is too prone to positional lapses an hell be coming back from a long term Injury. You cannot put him on a pairing with Gus, having to hold down the majority of the defensive load. And you REALLY don't want to put Carle on a pairing with Gus because that lacks serious size and the ability to play in the corners. I'd like Carle and Gus to both be paired with a bigger guy who can make up for their defensive liabilities. Just my opinion, but having a great shutdown pairing of Coburn and grossman is moot if you're also icing a pairing of Carle and Gustafsson. That's a disaster pairing.

Curious, who would you rather face if the Sens and Cats win, Caps (if they beat the Bruins) or the Cats (if the Bruins come back and win)?

Carle isn't a big defensive liability at all. His problem is the turnovers. Carle has a very good stick which helps him positionally. Rewatch todays game and watch how he uses his stick. Look at the multiple rushes Crosby came at him with and watch him use his stick. If Carle has any weakness defensively its him struggling with bigger and stronger forwards.

Mez and Gus are a hell of a lot better then Kubina and Lilja. Its a significant upgrade. I just don't think its good to break up a healthy Coburn-Grossmann pairing to play against the top lines. They have good chemistry. I agree with you about Mez and his positional lapses but its really not necessary to break up pairings just to mask Mez when the other two pairings are very solid.

He won the series on that first shift. He must have woken up this morning, had a grilled cheese, got to the rink and told the coach he wanted the first shift, nailed Crosby, and scored on the first shot of the game. The guy is amazing.

Crosby played like he had a headache all game. And to think nobody got him with a dirty elbow or stick all series.

I hope somebody really destroys Neal next season.
