For those who cannot wait, the Capitals have announced a pre-season game and it is against the Blue Jackets.
The date is Wednesday September 26 at the 1st Mariner Arena in Baltimore. This is the second year the Caps have played a pre-season game in Maryland. Last year's game was almost cancelled due to poor ice conditions, hope this year will be better.
Oh, good, bad ice! Excellent chance that one or more of whatever quality talents we may have collected will blow out a knee? Or maybe some defenseless Cap will flop in front of Wiz and Shanahan can once again show how tough he's going to be by giving Wiz two years in Leavenworth. And on my birthday, yet? The Fates laugh at me!

I thought I remembered reading that there was a CBJ pre-season game played at the Nutter Center in Dayton before 2000-01.

9/23 Vs Buffalo at the Rochester War Memorial, Rochester NY
9/29 Vs Florida at the Cincinnati Gardens, Cincinnati OH
9/30 Vs Florida at the Freedom Hall, Louisville KY
For the 2001 Preseason the Jackets played:
9/19 Vs Tampa Bay at the Onondaga County War Memorial, Syracuse NY
9/22 Vs Buffalo at the Von Braun Center Arena, Huntsville AL
For the 2002 Preseason the Jackets played:
9/20 Buffalo at the Onondaga County War Memorial, Syracuse NY
Since 2002 they have not played a preseason game in a non NHL arena (other then the game in Stockholm Vs The Malmo Red Hawks on 10/5/10).

Incidentally, the Blue Jackets' historical record on my birthday is 2-5-2, with wins in 2003 and 2010 (in OT; also, the OTLs were shootout losses in '08 and '09).
These past two years were the only times there hasn't been a game that day (except the lockout, of course), and I tend to think of that as a good thing, really.
