I don't see Mez coming back for a while yet, we'll have to have more injuries, he will be rusty and harder to spoon feed ice time to than JvR

Mez and Gus are a hell of a lot better then Kubina and Lilja. Its a significant upgrade. I just don't think its good to break up a healthy Coburn-Grossmann pairing to play against the top lines. They have good chemistry. I agree with you about Mez and his positional lapses but its really not necessary to break up pairings just to mask Mez when the other two pairings are very solid.
Well agree to disagree I suppose.

I just don't think a Carle Gus pairing is going to be able to compete against a playoff ready team. They're going to get taken advantage of physically. A strong forecheck will expose a Carle-Gus pairing fairly easily IMO. Mez-Gus would be the better option, but if Coburn and Gus can play as well as they played today the rest of the playoffs...

Coburn-Gus
Timonen-Grossmann
Mez-Carle

Would give us 3 pairings that are able to shut down an entire line, IMO. Hell, with the way he's playing, coby could shut down an entire line himself.

Thats the thing though.... Timonen-Carle have been pretty bad together this series. Carle was looking horrendous (you know he is looking bad when his biggest fan, DenverBoone critizes him, and when BSH starts shying away from Carle talk). Carle's best game was when he was off of Timonen's line, and Timonen had a better game when not paired with Carle. Those two dont have any chemistry.

Gus absolutely embarrassed Malkin, Crosby and others during the game today. He was outstanding defensively and the comparison to Kimo is looking dead-on again.

With the Rangers and Devils (hopefully) losing, you have an easy path to the Cup.

Hope you win!

Congrats guys.

So glad you guys knocked those assclowns out. Coburn impressed me in this series and Carle looked pretty bad. Is that the general consensus around here? Anyway, gratz on the win.

Do you want to face Washington (if they beat the Bruins) or Florida though (if the Bruins win)?

The first few games in the series i thought they were pretty good together. The problem was just turnovers. To many mistakes on the puck. Now in games 4 and 5 yes they did suck.

Thank you for knocking those scum Penguins out and making Fleury look silly.

Giroux is just unfathomably good. Just a bit better than Bobby Sanguinetti.

Crazy series. Sooo pumped right now.
This team should work on defense for the next several days. Is Mez still far away from a return?? Gah if only Pronger was playing...

A lot of times Giroux is a Forsberg clone, but that stare he had at the start of the game was reminiscent of Mats Sundin. He was so pumped for this game.
