Is it weird that even after watching him play 4 times I hadn't realized he was African American? Lately there's been a lot of African American talent coming up into the NHL
Kane
The Stewarts
the Subbans
Etem
Smith Pelly
Dumba
Jones
good to see.
You do realize most of those players are not American?

Whatever. Of African descent. Does it really make that big a difference? You know what I mean and I know which ones are American and which are Canadian.

Well I don't think most Canadians would like to be called American.
As a fellow Sioux fan I would love to see him play at UND, but I just don't see it happening due to the wide perception that the CHL is the quickest (and best) route to the NHL (imo it depends on the player/situation, Jones would do well anywhere). I also think it comes down to whether or not he wants to be able to focus on hockey 24/7 or if he's willing to split his time between hockey and school. Given that he wants to play in the NHL in a year, I imagine he'll want to focus on just hockey.
Nothing against US hockey but I want to see Seth play in the CHL, mostly because I'll get more of a chance to see him play.
I'll be amazed if this kid maintains his speed once he's filled out, can't wait to see how big he ends up getting.
Is this kid finally the kind of prospect that deserves comparisons to Pronger? Is that finally happening?
I think he will. He put on 35 lbs while he was with the NTDP and only got faster. Granted, he's still got a lot of room to grow but he's a great athlete so I wouldn't worry.

Just saw that. Portland looks formidable well into the future if he signs! Gotta think Everett is hurting, they spent a first on him. Portland has done this in the past with a few players; landing Cam Reid but not Rocco Grimaldi. Portland would go from a shrinking team to a giant one with Keegan Iverson, Alex Schoenborn and Seth Jones.
What are the odds he's interested in coming to Portland? Gotta think the NCAA route is the favorite if Everett was willing to trade negotiation rights.
The Plano, Texas native has indicated that he will either play at the University of North Dakota or in the Western Hockey League next season following the completion of his two-year stint with the NTDP.
There is still a shot he goes the NCAA route, however. Though yes, I'd personally lean 75/25 WHL.
I'm friends with a former teammate of his who plays for the University of Denver and keeps in touch with him. He's more than positive he's going to the WHL.
