Leave it to the Kings to give life to a team that had its back against the wall and was down 3-0 in the series. Judging from their play, it looks like Vancouver is ready to advance and the Kings are ready to hit the golf course.
So they changed goalies and Sedin came back. That somehow translates to the Kings not hitting as much, and reacting after Vancouver does something rather then just doing what they want.
Look at St. Louis the other night. That was a team closing out a series with confidence. They just played their game, and didn't wait for San Jose to react.
All season the Kings have done this. When they have the lead they play not to lose. They react to the team they are playing rather then just continuing to play their game. It's execution. Think back to the last period of game 2 when the Kings were up by 2, yet they decided to honestly let Vancouver pressure them for 5 minutes straight.
It's tiresome to watch a team play not to lose rather then just play their game start to finish.
The Blues are going to win the Cup, I had them as my pick since Jan.
We have beat these guys legitimately 3 times in the series, and 2 times during the regular season.
I dont care about seeding at this point. These guys CAN play, and they HAVE played at various times this year. Guys like Richards, Carter, Williams...they have to step up right now and stop playing the series as passengers. It looks to me like our big players are hoping someone else steps up and we win rather then taking it by the throat.
It's just my opinion, and all credit to Vancouver for coming on strong, but I just get tired of watching us play not to lose rather than play to win.
To add to my point, it's all confidence. This is the team that went on a tear of scoring 3-4-5 goals a night for a stretch because they never let up, they never hesitated, they never thought about the position they were in they just went out and played and won games, and won them convincingly.
It's like all of a sudden the Kings realized "Oh **** we are one game away from winning this series. Well, let's play real conservative and not make any mistakes."
There goes your offense.
You realize SJ was up a goal after two last night?
